Oakfern, deep tunnels beneath the Warren
Winter, Y775 of the New Age
Since the curse, Rab's eyes are completely devoid of irises. He can no longer tolerate even direct moonlight - he is relegated to the tunnels, his former safe place, for much of the month.

His only saving grace is that Gealach gifted him a greater affinity with herbs - the god did this so that Rab might know mushrooms better, to fall into deeper and longer trances... Rab has learnt, however, to make a numbing, shielding ointment that he can apply to his eyes, to allow him to creep at least to the Warren, although rarely further.

Rumours have a habit of creeping through the caves and tunnels, and there are whispered words of a 'darkseer', who cannot see the moon but at the same time can hear Gealach, and hears the god frequently. The rumours are true, for Rab is contacted by Gealach every half moon, to remind him of his duty and to remind him of his failure.

For devout - or even not so devout - Oakferns to consult with the Darkseer, to try to find a line of communication with Gealach, they must travel to the deep caves, wearing little paint for Rab cannot tolerate the brightness of a fully painted shaman or guard in their splendour. Perhaps he will be able to help... but more likely, Gealach's news will be painful and confused. Still, some may try...
If you'd like your Oakfern to consult with Rab - or just to see if this whole 'Darkseer' rumour is true or not, his visions follow this pattern:
They occur every half moon 'naturally' - he is extremely reluctant to create a trance for himself but if your fawnling can always ask...
The trances normally take the form of Gealach doing one of the following:
Screeching wordlessly at him/attacking him while they are in owl form
Berating him for having lost faith in any of their forms
Thanking him for returning to faith in a superficial, disinterested way
Thanking him from returning to faith in a more fulsome and honest way because Gealach loves family even if they are a capricious jerk
If you would like a 'genuine' communication with Gealach, that would need to be approved by the group
Either comment or send me a note for RPs or collabs I'll have a ref of Rab's cave up soon as well if you'd like to use him as an NPC - if you do want to use him as an NPC please contact me for approval before you do - I'm very unlikely to say no, but just so that I know!
