Wow, I was just looking back to see how much your characters have changed and Andie looks completely different here face and hair wise. Β she looks a lot like Shannen Doherty, that's interesting to see how much she's visually changed.Β

Andie has gone through a lot of visual changes over the years. I like to take inspiration from real life actors as a way of imagining how my characters would look in real life. Andie started out as a tribute to Shannen Doherty and her look reflected that. However, there was a brief period of time where I imagined her being portrayed by the singer P!nk and Jennifer Garner served as another inspiration of mine. In fact, Garner was my #1 choice to play Andie for a few years (2013-2015 to be precise). Rachel McAdams became my new #1 once I moved the series setting to Canada and sought out to have that further reflected in some of the casting choices.

Do you think you'll stick with Rachel McAdams as the inspiration or can you see Andie having a new inspiration in the future ?

Well, I'm not a psychic, so that's a question that only someone with precognition would be able to answer. I mean, Adrienne and Nichelle have had the same "model" for years. Melissa and Andie change every now and then. Then, Farrah and Jennette don't really have one.

Maybe I should have reworded it, do you have any desire as of now to give her a new facial inspiration ?

Not particularly. I like the idea of Rachel McAdams portraying her. It offers authenticity to the role as she herself is a Canadian and lives in the city that my series is set. It also fulfills what I'd like to see McAdams do as an actress. Despite all of her talent, she seems to have been relegated to romantic comedies, indie films, and supporting roles in larger big budget films. I want to see her kick ass.
That said, I still love the idea of Jennifer Garner playing her and I wouldn't be adverse to Andie being portrayed by a woman of colour. After all, my other top choices to play her are Kerry Washington, Taraji P. Henson, or Sharon Leal. I'm deliberately vague about Andie's physical appearance (aside from the fact that she has dark hair and an athletic frame) as a way of allowing her to be cast based on talent rather than appearance.
Even still, my preference is for her to be portrayed by a Canadian actress. Evangeline Lily, Cobie Smulders, Malin Akerman, Erica Durance, and Stana Katic would all slay this role. Β
