Description Typically, down angle shots are not my favorite angle to be photographed at. This one isn't so bad, though I look shorter. This is the Ep II Fireside gown Padme wears. I've had this costume for years, but hated most of the photos of it. As we all know, I hate uninteresting pictures, and despise pictures in which I look heavier than I am. Which is in most pictures because no one gets taught how to flatter the human form anymore! Breathe.

This dress is made of hackle feathers, jet glass beads, lace, velvet, pleather and cotton. Eventually I would like to remake the skirt, but that's only if and when I find a lace I like better than this one.

I also have a good detail shot of this costume in which Naboo-Girl is also present.

Taken by Bill Blackburn.

I absolutely LOVE your dresses. I'm envious I have all these 18th century gowns I need to finish/repair/make and I don't have time to sit down to do them right now! Urgle!

But I love your dresses, I'm envious of your skill!

I've been coveting some of your 18th century stuff you have posted. I don't have the patience to deal with all of those bustles and gathers!

That used to be my problem: I had TOO MUCH time to do it all. Now I have hardly any time and I miss working on them and after seeing Marie Antionette... well, all those dresses I want to finish and start are starting to come out of hiding...

When I went through my closest to pack up everything for the photoshoot, I found pieces I had completely forgotten about that I used to love! THen I started nitpicking how I would redo and change them. :-P

Isn't it so much fun to redo and change things? I've been doing that with my first 18th century dress... the blue and gold... I bought lovely gold material to redo the petticoat and stomacher (though stomachers are very much a pain with trying to decide on a design... grrr. Especially for a formal gown... argh!). Not much has been done on it... my focus is on either my green/cream floral summer dress or the black and white striped. Which to make for the Renaissance festival...? it's a tough one! And its way out of period, but hey, Pirates fit in, why can't damsels in distress from that period fit in too?

I have to try to go a little softer this year for festival. A friend of mine is getting married there this summer and I'm helping construct all of the wedding party garb. I would hate to work that hard and then show up in a pirate costume, y'know? So I haven't decided yet.

Congrats to your friend

I was going to do a new pirate costume this year... but, I think I want to go with something a bit softer, more ladylike. I've been doing that alot lately...

No shame in going girly sometimes. I've been leaning that direction lately too. Even went and got a new hair cut.

I've tried the curlers all night bit, but my hair kind of gives me the finger and does its own thing anyway.

Yay for haircuts, I can't wait to get mine all one length... then the 30's hairstyle I do with wearing curlers at night so its all curly will look much better...

Alrghties, I have one in my gallery - [link] I've got to get some more pictures of it, but that's the best I have so far. Unfortunately, the corset underneath doesn't fit me anymore, so I have to make a new one before I can wear it again!

I love seeing all the variations in skirts people make. No two skirts are alike since Tricia has hidden her chenille lace well.

Oh definately! It's really what makes the costume I think! Even though I was adamant about not using a floral for my overlay (coz I'm anal like that ), all of the skirts I've seen look beautiful! It's such a flattering skirt, I feel so gorgeous and curvy when I wear it ^_^ It's such a great mix of leather and lace

I was the same way about my lace. To be honest, this is one of my least favorite Padme dresses. Sure, there are ones I like less, but this ranks pretty high on the "totally inappropriate yet fun"-o-meter. I wasn't going to make it until all of the fabrics fell into place. Lace and pleather appeared on my doorstep. Feathers wisked in through the windows and falling out of the 'fridge. Beads started raining from the sky! Really! It was fate.

Hahaha. Well I have to admit, it's her tease costume! Somehow, it's jsut hard to take what she's saying seriously when she's got her cleavage hanging out! But out of all her ep 2 costumes, it was the one I suited the most (love the picnic but don't suit yellow ) and I have such a love for corsets! Most people at the con didn't even know who I was, they thought I was some random in gothic clothing! But it looks gorgeous, and that's the main thing

I've never gotten that response in this dress. I got that response in a few of my other dresses of Padme's, primarily the purple dress with copper headdress, but who knows what that's about.

That's really strange!! The purple one is really recognisable! Though the 2 major conventions we have here in Aust are primarily Anime fans, even though they're supposed to be pop-culture conventions. Star Wars isn't really that big either I'd love to have the big kinds of conventions you guys get!
