I have been busy lately so couldn't visit everyone individually.
Into Infinity...

Was originally a mini project that consisted of 5 solo images representing Infinite and Shadow's meet up/fight.
The reason I don't change the title is because I may continue this project at some point in the future. Into Infinity = Into Insanity, which tells the story of Infinite who turns into a mad guy after he loses to Shadow.
Background has taken me a whole day. I don't really want to moan about it anymore...
I used the same style as for Worlds Collide
Remember the cut scene from that episode? Infinite jumps onto Shadow in rage whilst Shadow beautifully flashes towards him.
I tried to highlight it in this drawing a little bit. I also gave Shadow a naughty 'smile' because he's edgy.
And he clearly doesn't care about Infinite in that game which made me laugh so much. Pure evilness hahahaha.

I'm going to draw different stuff from now on. I feel like I level up fairly quickly and can draw Sonic very well now... so here's the thing: I want to start drawing characters from different video games like Crash Bandicoot etc. It will look awesome, I can promise you that! I have got a few sketches done already
I will keep on drawing hedgehogs, don't worry! I just inform you all that from now on I am aiming for more and better. I want to become an artist known for not just Sonic art but much more than this.
Oh and guys! We have just hit over 70 members on our discord server!

Alone the thumbnail in my notifications was urging me to click on this drawing in full view and I was certainly not disappointed when I was greeted with this absolutely stunning piece of fresh art.
I'll try to go down through each category and reason my rating.
Vision:
I can certainly see what you wanted to achieve here, and you did translate your thoughts onto the canvas very remarkably!
We can guess the location, and we know exactly who we have here. We know that these two are gonna clash any second now; and it is fairly obvious how they feel about the upcoming fight!
Originality:
As much as I love this picture, it wasn't a mind blowing surprise you chose to portray this fight. It is essentially a redraw of a scene in the game; so it isn't particularly original to begin with.
It is also the most common point of the fight that is pictured; everyone loves to show the very moment before the clash, it's a classic - no doubt, but it's not particularly original.
The moment just after the fight or a particular moment during the fight would be more interesting of a theme, because they show a lot of character and life.
Reading your description I understand why you chose to do the beginning, and I also understand why you did not go on with this; but I have to take the fact in account that you could've chosen to finish any other part of the planned "moments".
I do give credit for the shifted angle though, that is a very nice touch!
Technique:
Your technique is truly stunning and all I can think of when seeing this picture is "Oof. That must have taken AGES to finish. I would have died midway through! This person must *really* have patience."
Even though this style is ignorant of light the light source, it works very well and looks harmonic in itself! The only problem that the ignorance of light source and color gives is that the characters and props pretty much look like they have been glued on and don't initially belong together into this very world.
The fact that the characters have their own very saturated pallets that do not take the surroundings or the time of day into consideration makes them seem very out of place; which is somewhat a shame because you clearly worked hard on this and the shading is absolutely phenomenal!
I do understand though, that it can be very hard to have characters immerse with the background, and for what you have tried to do here, because of the matching very saturated styles of both, the background and the characters, it does harmonize well.
But try not to excuse breaking immersion with your coloring style in the future! :9
Another point I want to address is that, even though the dynamic does match the whole picture, and it is not bad, the poses do seem a little stiff and you could've brought even more movement into the action. I do know it is risky and takes a lot of courage to go totally out of your comfort zone and do complicated angles and extreme poses, but trust me, it'll be soooo worth it if you do.
The tilded angle in the background was a good start, but I feel particularly Shadow could use a little more action.
I do appreciate the motion blur effects, though. It's a nice touch!
A little minor mistake I realized that just bothers me personally is that you made Infinite's claw on his left hand's thumb point upward towards himself. It looks painful.
You also might ahve overdone it with the folds in the gloves a little at some points.
Impact:
The immediate impact this image leaves is incredible. The style is literal eye candy and the viewer is compelled to explore every little corner of the drawing. The absolutely ridiculous amount of detail and love you put into this drawing really make it pop with positive energy that totally draws you in.
I can't help but admire your passion and patience in completing this image due to these facts.
I hope my critique was helpful to you in some way and you'll show us what you are made of next year with even more breathtaking pictures!

To start off with, one of the main factors I love so much about this piece is as you put it in the description- the colour. By goodness, if I could just love this piece for the colour itself I would never let it go. I'm looking at how much colour you've made in the background- but not only there, the characters themselves. Despite one being nearly completely monochrome- you've managed to sneak in so much colour in the strokes of shadows and lighting. The little touches of red in the hair, the blue on black. This is all wonderfully put together and really cements the realism of the entire piece. So I suppose you could say this is also a really good example of some quality lighting and shading. To be honest, I do prefer your paintings when it comes to your lighting- for realism. I would say this piece looks more akin to an Archie Sonic Comic cover. Its so professional looking Im sure most people would agree with me. But again, colour wise- this is an amazing piece which shows just how much depth and how captivating colour can be when put to good use.
If we were to go onto positioning now, as well as posing- dear goodness, you made sure good use of that square canvas Fen. They are positioned wonderfully in a dynamic pose which suites the perspective of Shadow facing Infinite in the background. The blur you've applied to the gloves is not so jarring- it keeps the detail to his design but not only that, it shows movement thats going behind those wonderful poses. I truly believe you've came far when it comes to simply DRAWING the characters. Granted you've always been good at drawing Shadow- but this is a major step up. Really it looks straight from a comic I cant get over his facial expression. He looks ready for a fight, he's determined and-- well, cocky as get out. Infinite hasn't lost this battle yet so its good to see just a tiny hint of cockiness to his eyes aswell. He too is ready for battle. One could've easily made him angry and GRR but no, this doesnt qualify for it, he's just now meeting Shaodw whom he thinks he can take out quite easily. You are probably the first person that has noticed the range of used colours in this piece. I will agree with you in 1000% that keeping it realistic would make a better impact in overall

Hi! I have not critiqued (er, praised, rather) anything in a while, so thanks for giving me the opportunity to do so.
Where do I begin? The action in this piece is very well depicted between Infinite and Shadow. The anatomy seems to be on point. However, I feel that there could have been a little more of a blur effect on the hands so that way it could make it seem like either one of them could throw a harder punch.
It seems like Shadow is having a little too much fun with wanting to beat up Infinite, no?
Also, can I suggest one other thing? Maybe use a bit of a darker twinge on the colors, seeing since it takes place at night? (Kinda like how I did in trickythesylveon.deviantart.co… (T O U R N I Q U E T), trickythesylveon.deviantart.co… (Breaking the Habit), and trickythesylveon.deviantart.co… (In the End, I've Become So Numb). If you want to know how I create a darker twinge, I create another layer, color it black, and set it at a low opacity.)

I can agree with the blur on the hands. Never enough special effects! Didn't want to put too much and hide the background though so had to balance everything somehow

I must disagree with the last point of using darker colours in this scene. Infinite is black, Shadow is black. If I used darker colours for the background you would not see a thing. It was insanely difficult to light this scene up with the 'torches' and make those two visible. If I used dark colours I would waste a whole day of doing that detailed background. I wanted to highlight it not cover it with black pain

A truly breathtaking drawing of Shadow and Infinite about to battle! Amazing with Infinite's movement blur on this fist, shoe and tail, and Shadow's shoes and quills! I also love the glinting lights with the blue force behind Shadow!
I am very intrigued with their poses and expressions as well!
