ahhh this looks really cool in spite of your 'mistakes' (I kind of think half the fun of traditional media is thinking of clever ways to disguise your mistakes...)
the detail on each feather is excellent!

I like traditional media and pens and stuff because when you mess its just kind of like WOOPS YOU FUCKED IT UP HOPE NOBODY NOTICES, SUCK IT UP AND MOVE ON WITH YOUR LIFE.
AND STUFF GETS DONE FASTER THIS WAY because with digital shit can take HOURS longer than it needs to because you can be all super ocd about it.

oh I know, I've redone the background on a digital piece like 3 times before
I really envy people who can just spit out flawless digital art over and over

oh god I know right I ESPECIALLY HATE BACKGROUNDS.
when you get so used to doing typical characters-floating-in-empty-space dA / schoolworkdoodle shit it becomes SO HARD to start immersing characters in backgrounds. I often inevitably picture what I want the character to look like by itself before I think about the background, and when the background is an afterthought the result is that awkward thing where the character just looks "pasted" into its environment. I'm trying to practice planning&drawing characters and backgrounds SIMULTANEOUSLY (like you're probably supposed to) to overcome these shitty amateur habits.
Also I think the trick to people that spit out that flawless digital art is that they ... started out less nitpicky or more confident? like maybe they just GO WITH IT when they're drawing instead of redoing things over and over and maybe the result looks a bit rushed and shitty, but they get stuff done faster this way and move on -> so they make more art instead of spending all their time 'perfecting' one picture -> they get more practice because of this -> until they are super effective at working in this manner and have attained the ability to SHIT OUT FLAWLESS DIGITAL ART LIKE A GOD.
honestly I think a lot of conveniences in digital art kind of hinder amateurs because they tend to be less confident with their work.
....anyway ohgod sorry for RAMBLERAMBLE i just tend to ramble about these things, obviously :'D;;;;

OH GOD YEAH I doodle so much in the margins of worksheets that I don't even...pay attention to composition and backgrounds and stuff...and plus if you're doing a big fancy piece with dramatic lighting you have to take that into consideration while shading, which takes so much planning and ugh. it's crazy how hard you have to work to override all those noobish tendencies ;;
yeah that's basically it, ugh. I wish I wasn't so perfectionist, but I feel like I have to have..noticeable improvement between my pieces? my subject matter has been jumping around so much recently... and I have another handicap because I'm not allowed online after dinner, so I spend all my computer time catching up on websites and whatnot. if I could I'd practice digital medium so much more often, but it's tough when I only get 3-4 a day hours max. JUST WAIT, COLLEGE, JUST WAIT.
no big deal, I'm glad I'm not the only one who overthinks this stuff
