Official Name: The Poor Fellow-Ponies of the Night and the Selenic Temple

Emblem: a dark blue alicorn in front of the moon, holding the dychonomous crystal

200 years ago, a group of wise and powerful unicorn mares started a journey to the far-away Selenic Mountains on the binge of Horspaña. Their sole guidance was a lonely star, whose whole purpose was known only to them - later that year, it would join a unique conjunction that was said to bring a period of great joy... as well as the arrival of the next Age of Shadow.

Finally, after a long walk, the unicorns saw the sun come down on the last day of the year. This being, when the star finally entered the conjunction and the time of labor began. As they had settled long time ago, the unicorns began to build an observatory, and besides it a temple, and around it a wall.

They called it the Monastery of St. Selena, and they made it their home and working place, where they could watch the night sky in peace and contemplate about the nature of light and shadows.

Over time, they got known for their knowledge in astronomy and for their calm, trustworthy nature that made them exceptionally good listeners. Soon, other ponies followed their example and came to the mountains: among them scholars and curious adventurers, but also simple merchants and farmers that had no other place to go. All of them came to see the Nightmares, and if they didn't outright join them, they at least settled around them, providing food and trading goods whenever they were needed. In return, the Nightmares offered spiritual advice and treated all sorts of sicknesses, but especially those of mind and soul, that no one else understood.

But everything changed eventually, when Princess Luna met the order. From that time on, the order opened itself to new fields of study and even adapted magic as a means to help their fellow ponies. Since then, the order has considerably grown and established five open houses from Horspaña to the Griffish Isles.

Their newest preceptory is in the streets of Ponyville, and it's the place where a very strange and wonderous story is about to begin...
