Here are some concepts I did for the company I am working for .2 or 3 hours each one , all in photoshop cs3
It was a commercial that would need a robot with a human head .
You can see that I tried different approaches here .
a clean and plastic look , a very tubular and messy , and a more soldier like .
Instead to try to illustrate the man's head , I just retouched a real photo .
btw , I used that lex luthor actor from smallville .

Cool designs! I can't decide which I like better: the first or the third. *ponders* Incidentally, Michael Rosenbaum (Smallville's Lex Luthor) makes a great robot-face!

the head looks a little too big for the body in most of those, other than that its all quite nicely rendered

that's....creepy, seriously, I really think that a robot with a human head is creepy and it's a great way of scaring customers away.... maybe you could go with a more synthetic look? I Robot really managed to put a human face on a robot without it looking disturbing.
Don't get me wrong, the concepts are excellent from technical point of view, very detailed and well done, but the addition of a human head onto a robot is really something extremely difficult without making it look disturbing, or at least unnatural and unbalanced

I didn't meant to offend you (however by your...*sound* it seems you were), I'm sorry.
basically what I'm saying is that getting the face on a robot right is something really difficult. In my opinion the face should be a part of the robot, which means it should blend with it.
One thing I noticed that I think makes it look not quite right is that the faces are pointing in different directions than the heads, it's especially noticeable in the first one and the second one...
Once Again, I hope I don't offend you, I'm just trying to give constructive comments.
Apart from that, the robot bodies are Very well done

Did you use any specific inspiration for the face? he kinda looks like the actor who plays lex luthor in Smallville.
