Some of the eeriest and most unnerving things about the mysterious island on which the Fernley boys find themselves stranded are the burial grounds and mausoleums scattered all over the island.

Some of the braver boys have made an effort to explore these spooky places but very few of the gravestones have any inscriptions on at all, either that or they are badly weathered.

There have been reports from some of the boys that they have seen or heard movements, even disturbing sounds from these places.

Michael has given instructions that boys should avoid them if they can but this is not easy because many of the paths on the island trace their way past these burial grounds.

The presence of the mausoleums adds an extra layer of fear and stress to an already difficult situation. To try to allay any further speculation about ghosts or zombies, Michael has lookouts posted near some graveyards but very few boys will stay there after sunset. Even brave boys like Ben and Theo have their limits.
