Description
For the variation contest.

Alright! So, I don't know if I got this in in time, but hopefully I did xD;;

The title of this variation of Death Note is "Light & Dark". I chose this title after finding out that one of the meanings of the name 'Kira' is 'dark'. I felt it fit so perfectly for the idea I wanted to do.

This takes place after L has discovered the Death Note in the series. As L continues to investigate it, he notices that Light's personality has changed again. This leads him to the realization that the personality in control of Light at the moment is really Kira. Kira's personality developed over the months that Light first started killing, and the moment he regained his memories, Light's personality was suppressed and replaced by Kira. It is therefore Kira who is the serial murder, while Light would do his best to uphold the same justice as his father.

L also realizes one other thing - over the months he has gotten to know Light, Light has become the most precious person in the world to him. Now, L must uncover the truths about the Death Note and find a way to defeat Kira and save Light, all before Kira gets his wish and kills both L and Light for good.

Notes:
- The title, as previously mentioned, is really meant to refer to Light and Kira, the two personalities.
- This idea stems from my own interpretation of Death Note. When Light has forgotten everything about the Death Note, he shows his morality and virtues. While relating to the first Kira, he also firmly claims that there is no such thing as a 'good killer'. I believe he had to push himself to become Kira after originally killing two people without realizing it beforehand. He had such a strong sense of justice that either he would force himself to believe what he did was right, or he would have otherwise killed himself probably.
So, I'm not necessarily saying he has a split personality here, but rather he had to change his fundamental beliefs and became Kira. Having no knowledge of having killed anyone, he still has the same values of justice as before, which is extremely close to his father's sense of justice.
This lends to the idea that if the Death Note had been destroyed and he forgot for good, he never would kill again, thus, essentially, killing Kira while saving Light.

Art-wise, I'm... semi happy with this. I did it in about 9 hours from start to finish, which is super fast for me Dx Unfortunately, I didn't have much more time to put towards this but I really wanted to enter the contest. So please don't critique me too hard on this
