Daniel Craig was great in that movie, and so was Rooney Mara. I thought it was funny how he played a wimp so well, considering he had also played James Bond.

This is really good, I saw the picture you referenced from. I was thinking of doing it, myself! And I agree, Fincher is great. Favourite film of his would have to be Fight Club!

The other side of his personality has been blank out by either the idea of the artist or his past.

Very interesting play with the characters using the reduction method, and excellent shading and clean details. Only bit that seems off is the extra blank space between his left shoulder and the line of her throat; without any shading filling the space it gives the neck an odd shape.

Ooh, that's cool! At first I thought the white was just a sort of abstract hightlight contour line for the guy's face, but it didn't quite line up, so then I looked again until it clicked xD I agree that it might be stronger if she were black, however.

What a great concept, excellently executed! But I feel it would be stronger if she was in black instead of white.

Oh cool, it took me a few seconds to realize that what his face disappeared into was a silhouette. I... don't think I've ever seen anything like that before. And your pencil work, it's extraordinary; it's more real than a photograph.

Haven't seen the english one yet. Saw the swedish/danish one. LOVED that one. Saw all three of those. Waiting to see if this one was worth it or not or if toned down, etc. They are very intense movies, the swedish/danish ones.

Well, I can say there's nothing toned down about this one. It's coming from the guy who gave us "Se7en" after all.

Well, the Hollywood industry has become so big that its products are too overproduced and manufactured with the generic minimum so as to appease the mass public. The ultimate goal is the bottom line; it's a production line most often, and there is little room for craftsmen. Outside America it's a different story because the system isn't as huge.
I agree, good Sci Fi is hard to come by nowadays because of the film-makers forgot what the genre was: it's using the future to reveal something about the world today. Much of science fiction has lost that philosophical aspect to it, but fortunately there are still a few quality films to be found.
Oh, and my advice when seeing the new GWTDT is not to spend the time overly comparing it to the Swedish version. In my experience, that can lead to one garnering a very cynical view to what is otherwise a very good movie.

I have a feeling the American version will be better (haven't seen it yet) and I don't say things like this often.
I first watched Swedish movies, liked them, but then I read the books and was highly disappointed in the movies which seemed really crappy after I watched them again after the books. And the fact I simply cannot see the main actor as Blomkvist(and also Erika) made everything worse. Actress for Lisbeth was great although her physical appearance has very little with chracter's in the book.
Don't think I'll like Mara, but Craig seems like much more beliavable new Blomkvist so I'm looking forward to watching, especially because everyone's full of praise for the director.
