Description If coming down from the north into Yellowstone Park you will be approaching a small town called Gardiner. Before you hit that town, or cross the border into Wyoming, you might be greeted with this sight. The Mountain in the distance is Electric Peak and the river, I believe, is Gardner River which empties out into the Yellowstone River farther south.

I was stunned and pulled over quite quickly when I saw the clouds and the view working in tandem with one another. I stayed for some time just watching the scene and eventually moved onwards where the scenery continued to impress.

Little did I know that Day 44 was just the start of a three day shock fest of ultimate beauty. © 2011-Current.

This is beautiful and I too would have pulled over quickly to admire this view.

I've been out west, though it was back in the day before digital photography. Geez, I'm old! Anyway, I remember thinking how difficult it is to capture the beauty on film. You just have to be there to appreciate it fully.

Definitely. Thankfully there's something even better than digital files and film: your mind.

Very beautiful, very nice moment with the clouds as they were. I can easily see how you could spend a great deal of time just observing the landscapes there.

Once the clouds moved off it was still beautiful, but turning that corner and seeing that around the roof of the car in front of me was a recipe for slamming on the breaks and getting the hell out of the car ASAP!

Part of me wonders if this is near the place we stayed when we visited Yellowstone. I have no idea what it was called or even where it was, I wasn't paying attention to our geographic location, haha, but that looks very familiar. River, open ground and then the mountains. Is this near the edge of the park somewhere (sorry not looking at a map right now, I just remember where we stayed I think was on the outskirts...).

It was still in Montana, so the northern most section of Yellowstone and the only road that goes INTO Yellowstone from the north. As the description says, it's just north of the small town of Gardiner, MT.

Hmmmmmm... I'm getting the feeling that is where we stayed XD Going to have to ask the parentals if they remember. (Beautiful picture, btw, haha! I was just struck by how familiar it looked and so was distracted )

Sweet! Definitely ask. And thank you! It's okay, I know the feeling of familiarity can override most anything else.
