I like the belly pod (sensor?). Methinks this and the other F-16 Delta images will make a good basis for one of my future Protean (variable) aerospace fighters for my science fiction. Thank you very much for posting these images. Very cool stuff.

Looks like it's a pod for carrying sensors and such. Easier than trying to cram them all into the body of the jet itself, and if it's removable, you get the option of switching the pods around between jets, for those times when a particular plane or a particular pod need to go in for maintenance. I know that for some other setups like this, such as wing-tip refueling pods for the KC-135R, or the various bits of recon and weapons racks for the KC-130Js, they will make fewer sets of the external pods than they have airframes designed to take them, assuming that the planes will need to go in for maintenance more often than the external pods will.
