Some concept art for the Amazonian AU. It's evolving slowly but it's fun. Koalagriton and I are still mainly focusing on the world and characters rather than the story but it's turning out to be really fun.Here is the latest design on the turtles' face and body paint.

I think Raph will be quite the frightening one when he gets bigger. His green eyes and red body paint make him sort of stand out. So, I'm guess his personality will be similar in this story to how he is when a TMNT in NYC?? Great art. Glad you are making this venture into the jungle for the green guys and their fans!

yes, raph is the most agressive. but since he's a kid in the story he thankfully isn't that big of a threat
well the sterness and seriousness is a part of their upbringing. there's no time to goof around in a dangerous jungle!

I'm in love with this au, I keep unconsciously drawing little amazon turtles whenever I'm doodling them. If there was a fanfiction on this I would be on it in a heartbeat.

Woooow! love the concept!The jungle/ Amazonian theme is definitely new in this fandom and since I'm also a Brazilian it totally got my attention!
The boys design are super cool! Loving the yelloish eye color, it gives this wild nature for them. Thumbs up for paint markings and feather accessories!!

thank you very much! I wanted to go with something completey new and fresh. The idea with the green and yellow eyes struck me as I was coloring this. It feelis like it makes them look more "wild."
That's amazing that you're from Brazil! Are you anywhere near the rainforest? I'm asking because I'm looking for some folk tales or myths of the amazon that I could slightly base some characters or story off.

Unfortunately I live all the way to São Paulo (Big concrete jungle haha) but we all learned about some folklore stories and characters at school

Cobra-Grande / Boiúna/ Boitatá (these are all giant snakes lol)

These are just mythological creatures but I'll try to find some jungle folk tales

I do have a question (I hope I'm not bothering you and you don't have to do reasarch for me, just if you happen to know) do you know any more beings like the cobra-grande or boto? Basically animals. I'd love if there's anything about jaguars of black panthers or any other ferce animals (I don't know much about the amazon so I don't know if they are in Brazil or not).

The Jaguar (Onça-pintada = spotted jaguar) is a very iconic animal in our culture, since it is a endangered species (some of our money has a picture of it lol) and one of the biggest cats of America so it's a very fierce animal to use 8D
We don't have black panthers but a jaguar if color morphism so it's yellow fur is black but you can still see it's spots en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jaguar#/…
Now a tale about jaguars are not commonly know ( at least I didn't know about it...) UNTIL I did a quick research and found this! www.sohistoria.com.br/lendasem…
Basically it's a legend about a jaguar who lost one of the forelegs possibly in a fight against hunters. Since this fight the jaguar came to possess a great strength mixed with a huge anger. It usually stays hidden in the woods and you hardly are able to see it. It says that it doesn't choose it's victims, attacking anyone on it's path, but you can describe it as very angry and fearless creature.
Since I don't leave near the rainforest regions I don't really know if there are anymore animals with tales related to them besides the ones I sent to you.. but I think you got the most important/famous ones ( anaconda, crocodile, jaguar, boto...)

thank you for the explanation on panthers. i thought that every big cat that has black pigment is considered a panther no matter the species. I was wrong! oh well now I know the truth!
that's so cool that you have jaguars on your money. that's badass! we only had a huge flower on one bill but that was before we got euros. XD
