Nice... wanted to do that one too but couldn't find the time. But you need to work on your gif making skills, it could be much smaller (filesize). What program did you use to make the vector? And what program to make the gif?

I broke the original .gif down into frames, used Illustrator to make each individual frame of rainbow dash, and compiled it at 24fps (like the show) in Photoshop. I then exported it with diffusion transparency at half its original size.
Is there a way I could have the same quality but with half the filesize that I don't know about?

Kinda the same but I make a clip from the video and load it into ImageReady. Do some cropping and delete identical frames etc and save all frames as individual files. Load them into Inkscape and make for each frame a layer. After all frames are done I export them and load them into ImageReady, delete the background and lock the important colors, and save at 64 colors usually without dither. Well there is a bit more to it, especially removing the background properly. Inkscape seems to be able to load Illustrator files so if you want I could give it a shot.

Ah, interesting. Instead of cropping out the background, I decided to recreate Dash 24 times because of the versatility that comes with having a vector. I think the problem I had was that I had the colors set at 256, had 100% dither dither, and overall added in a whole bunch of fancy effects because my computer could handle it. I can alter it in pretty much any way in when exporting it in Photoshop, however, so I could create an avatar sized .gif if I needed to.

I recreate em too but haven't figured out how to export a pic from Inkscape with no background color or make the outlines not antialiased. Illustrator probably can do that.
