If we wanted to write the history of Yaman, we would first have to talk about the Great Khanates.
We will not do so, not now, but let us say that Yaman is a successor state to the Sharynkan empire, which had conquered and subdued the lands of Zardod and forced the Eshari to migrate.

For about three centuries, Yaman was a powerful steppe state, but as Vorost expanded, the horde lost ground.
Not only through military defeats, but also through internal instability. The nobles of the countryside, Bey or Khan (the latter a title granted very rarely and generally only to certain families) often rebelled or refused the orders of the central court.
The countryside is often abandoned, because the peasants resent the great tax burden and especially the work imposed on them by the Beys. This impoverishes the state, both in taxes and soldiers, putting Yaman in a difficult position even compared to Eshar.

The flag shows a green griffin on a white field surrounded by spheres. The flag has a frame of the same colour as the griffin.
This is the ancient flag of the empire of Sharynkan, which had itself been that of the empire of Zardod.
The difference is the colour, green is the traditional colour of Yaman, and so the flag means that the ancient imperial tradition represented by the griffon is now in the hands of the Horde, which therefore declares itself not simply a successor state of Sharynkan, but a direct imperial continuation.
