Description Coat of arms of Sidney Constantino baron Sonnino, italian politician who served two brief terms as Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Italy and also as Foreign Minister during the First World War.

As the leader of the conservatives he was somewhat of a éminence grise of Italian politics during early XXth century. His main political goal was to revive southern italy economically as well as fighting illiteracy. He is also known as the only protestant leader of Italy, as he was born into Italian Jewish-Welsh family and raised as Anglican. Thus Sonnino was described as "decidedly British in manner and thought". He was mainly responsible for Italy's involvement in the Great War, as he was the one to sign the Treaty of London of 1915, which obligated his country to join the Entente's side. He was also the one to represent Italy along with Vittorio Emanuele Orlando during Paris Peace Conference of 1919.
