Description
This is a REALLY old photo, and is in my gallery earlier as "My Kitty." I was messing around with the exposure to make it a little more robust, and randomly tried cropping it. Shot in 2004; the beginning of my photographic career, lol. Enjoy.

I love the capture; the texture of the fur, and the illuminated quality of it make for such a great shot! I'd consider thinning out the border, though.

Who can resist a wonderful, glaring kitty?
It's adorable. As far as the actual picture composition goes, the frame smothers it for me. It feels like it's compressing the image, emphasizing the cut-off of the whiskers and head and even the great focus isn't enough to save it for me. Perhaps a top and bottom black strip for a frame? Or a thinner black? Also, have you tried a very light saturation enhancement to bring out the patterns in the fur? That, combined with a slight contrast enhancement and lightening might be something to play around with.
And did I mention that it's adorable?

Hmm. I shall have to look at it again without the frame. The picture has extra saturation and contrast already. I've had other people mention that my photos are a little flat; I'm beginning to wonder if maybe my screen on my laptop is a bit contrasty. I'll try brightening it up as well. Thanks for the comment.

You could probably run a check and see if it's the laptop screen issue. I remember when my monitor played havoc with what I saw vs what other people saw.

What I really need to do is snitch a monitor calibrator from the photo department and get my screen calibrated. I keep thinking about it and never getting around to it.

Well, if you've a laptop and it's not too old, it should set your ideal setting itself if you go to Display Settings - At least I vaguely recall never having to do any sort of calibration for mine. Could be sheer luck though.

I think mine is very close to ideal, but it may still be a bit on the contrasty side. I've tried changing it, and every time I do it ends up looking too flat. But people always seem to think that my photos are a bit flat.
