Description Ok...so this is so completely unlike anything I've done before that had I not been there when I did it, I would straight up accuse me of stealing someone else's art...

This is demi-fanart for a story of mine...and really just practice at digital painting. the process: 1)Scan in sketch 2)make a layer for color under the original lines 3)rough in colors 4)begin shading and whatnot 5)as shading progresses begin erasing the original lines 6)put your artistic OCD to work. Several hours later, this is what you get. I'll post the original sketch in my scraps for comparison, but dude...My hand hurts but I'm super happy right now.

Secret love of this: I apparently learned to make clouds in PS somewhere along the line...

Riku belongs to not me...the painting is all me.

awesome. He looks... sad. His eyes hold a whole lot of emotion and he just looks so longing and sad. Maybe i'm just overthinking but that's what the art makes me think off. Very beautifully drawn and very good details. The background is really good too and it adds to the whole picture. But his eyes are what draw the most attention, very great work. What story is this from?

I have a fanfic called "Life on the Blitz" written a couple of years back and posted on ffn. There's a scene in which Riku is sitting on a front porch at sunset and that's what inspired this. His character is pretty complex in the story so I suppose the emotion you're picking up comes from my perspectives on him while I was writing. It's cool that you picked up on all of that from this image

BUT WAY TO DAWN MAKES SO MUCH MORE SENSE!! Clearly, I'm the one who phails.

This was actually inspired by a scene in Blitz. Sora's birthday, out on the porch... The background was a bit of a shock for me as well

thanks so much! It's the first time I've ever done something like this and I'm quite please with how it came out.

I love the look on his face! Great work on the colors and the shading. That looks like it was a real challenge.

totally was but I generally like the outcome...though I still feel I could have pushed the contrast a bit more.

Holy crap, Lynisha! Oh my god! Wow! I just... Wow. This is magnificent. I love the shading of the blue of the sky into the blue of his hair. The color balance blows me away. I find myself worshiping you...

the crazy thing is that it didn't take nearly so long as I would think. I remember spending like...16 hours on pieces that weren't nearly so in-depth in the past. this took about 6 or 7 hours for me to do. I'm having a spike the like of which I've never had before. It breaks my brain if i think about it too hard.

Spikes are not a bad thing. It reminds me of in 2000 when I went from being ... to being hey, that's not half bad!

Wow, this is really incredible! The depth you got in the background is very nice, and I think Riku's hair in particular is absolutely wonderful! I really enjoy the colours you picked for the sky, and the way they reflect on the water! Great job!

Dude...the hair was a pain, but it worked out in the end ^__^ The other thing that was a pain was the shoulder in the foreground. I had finished the face and bg and hair but the shoulder was just no working out...but I got it too in the end. I'm glad you like it. I hope to continue in this trend.
