I think I've really neglected my deviant page over the years, so I'm trying to add more of my newer pics. I did this one in the summer, it was really just me practicing portraits. I don't really know how I feel about it. I guess everything is a work in progress. I don't feel like I'm really at the place I want to be as an artist. But I'm much further along then I was a year ago, I guess that's what really counts right?Related content

I love this! Her face glows: when I first saw her I thought it was some sort of subtle animation because it looked to me as if the light on her features was progressively becoming more intense. Hypnotic!

I really love the facial structure, it's very realistic and so expressive. I also love the background, how do you create such environmental backgrounds like that? Do you use actual photos? Or do you just free hand it? Also do you use a size 1 brush? I'm quite curious on how to get such realistic effects for future works.

I usually use photo references for my backgrounds, it makes perspective a lot easier! As for the brush, I use lots of different brushes, round, flat, textured. I mix it up! Sometimes I make my own for photoshop, sometimes I used other peoples!

the little flowers in the hair on the left and the hair surround in has wonderful details and highlights
