Description
Another test of my new head pattern (I promise I'll get back to things I'm supposed to be doing now). I shortened the ears and nose a little from my previous test, and changed the shape of the forehead a little. Now I just need to work on knowing how to make eyes look cuter from the front, rather than...intense.Related content

Love the updated head, and I'm sure her slight death stare can be solved by playing with the eye designs just a little bit. Β
Maybe it is because her head is intentionally out of proportion, but I think her horn looks just a tad bit long for the size of her head...

are the tests for sale :_: seriously, this is great! how you do things so small and so well, i will never understand. i saw and commented on derpy before this one, but i think this head shape is more appealing. the ear looks great!! don't change them! for the eyes, usually eyelashes and lids change how 'intense' an expression seems. the more of the top of the iris you see, the more O_O it'll look. you could try a more cartoony eye for fun maybe, or just cover the top iris/pupil/highlight with eyelid/lashes (more relaxed) or keep the eye shape/don't touch the lashes and just enlarge or shift the iris/pupil/highlight up so they're partially covered. i hope this makes sense!! easier to explain with pictures.. also, not sure if this will change things or be helpful, but in the actual show, the eyes aren't mirrored or flipped. if you look, the highlights are usually on the same side for both eyes. might be helpful with expressions looking more natural?

Aw, thank you! I like the change in head shape here, too. I realized some of those things you said about the eye a little late - in the future I will definitely make the pupil larger or lower the eyelids to give a cuter expression - I totally get what you mean

I think for cuteness rather than intensity, try scooting the pupils forwards a little, so they're cut off a little by the edge of the eye. Β Very rarely do ponies' full pupils show, unless they're making really weird/creepy expressions. Β Just a thought, I've dealt with that a little on my own plushies.
But then again, she might look crosseyed with her face being so small... Β hmm. Β I dunno. Β Love the mane and tail though C:

I actually tried the pupils closer together, but it just made her cross-eyed. I think if I make the pupils larger overall, it'll fix the issue.

I love the new snout!! Everything looks great, and the ears look a lot more curvy and natural now~~ And maybe if you made the pupils Β bigger and touch the top of her eyelid it would make her look less.... eccentric? Also having the shinies in the shape of hearts was something I really liked on Derpy~~ But still, the new head pattern is looking awesome!!Β

Yeah, I think widening the pupils would fix the manic glare a little. I really liked the heart shinies, but I wanted to do something a little more standard to give a contrasting example - I wasn't sure whether I should make them a standard feature.
