And that's a wrap! Last day of the Countdown, last entry for me. There's going to be a folder for the late entries, so I'll see what I can do there XD I skipped Day 12 after all...
Poor Genis wasn't tall enough to be included in the picture, though Sheena and Raine are actually supposed to be shorter than Lloyd as well. In-game, the models have the same height, Raine even looked a little taller than Lloyd in Dawn of the New World.
...Ehr, I ran out of ideas with this one XD''' So uh, have the first time inside the Tower of Salvation with lots of coffins floating around. I still haven't understood why there were so many or why they were there to begin with.

I don't understand why there are that many coffins either, at the Temple of Martel, Remiel said Colette was the SEVENTH Chosen of Sylvarant!!! and why is Zelos a Chosen if the whole point is becoming a vessel for Martel... wouldn't it make more sense to only pick girls?

Remiel could be lying, he doesn't have a stellar reputation for being honest. Seriously, passing yourself as Colette's father? I saw through it at the Temple of Fire and so did Colette, Genis and Lloyd believed it because there was a rumour Frank wasn't Colette's real father. Since the prophecy says angels bore the Chosen One, people on Sylvarant could believe the Chosen One is generated at least by one angel parent. It could be a topic at the Palmacosta Academy, whether it's true angels generated every Chosen One so far or just the very first one or none of them. The last theory is probably heresy.
Zelos is the Chosen solely for being member of the main family (through marriage chosen by Cruxis, when Seles is a bastard child born from an affair thus less relevant despite being female) of the Lineage of Mana on Tethe'Alla. He can't become the Chosen of Regeneration, his sole role is keeping his family line alive. Only girls can become Chosens of Regeneration.

I guess, but what would be the point in lying to her about that...? Maybe to hide the fact that SO many Chosens failed, so it wouldn't discourage her. It does make sense when you think about it that way.
I always thought his only role was keeping the family line alive because he's the Chosen of the flourishing world, not because he's a male. Heh, I've been playing this game for years, and there's still stuff I don't know about.

It's difficult to hide when a Chosen fails because the Tower of Regeneration appears whenever a Chosen of Regeneration accepts her task. It's kind of difficult to ignore that. We're also told Spiritua founded the Church of Martel and was the last successful Chosen of Regeneration around 800 years before (so Colette being the 7th Chosen could be interpreted there were 6 official Chosens before her who all failed their task, one Chosen per century after Spiritua's Regeneration fell), but on Welgaia one angel remarks there haven't been any more Chosens since Spiritua from Sylvarant. It could be just the Italian translation so I'm picking that with a grain of salt.
Also, I really doubt ALL those corpses were Chosens who failed their task. Some could have been the previous Chosens' parties who didn't survive either or other host-bodies who couldn't receive Martel's spirit. Tabitha is proof that Yggy wasn't relying solely on the Lineage of Mana after all.
Yeah, that was weird XD the only thing I could find in the game is that Colette has always been called Chosen during her life, but became the Chosen of Regeneration only when she accepted to awaken Martel. It's specified in additional material about the game in Japan and it clearly says only females can be Chosens of Regeneration. The title of Chosen is given to members of the main family of the Lineage of Mana, since apparently they only require to have one child with the spouse chosen by Cruxis and no more (probably there were lots of assassinations in the past for the title of Chosen. Seles's mother wanted to kill Zelos so Seles would receive the title).

I remember those coffins in the game. Did you also watch the 2nd united world episode when Colette gets taken to the chamber, you get to see the bodies of the previous chosens suspended in the air? Their style of dress is also interesting from whatever time period they came from as well as the fact that while their soul was gone due to their cruxis crystals after failing that Yggy would still keep their bodies perfectly preserved. Oddly all of them seem to have brown to black hair unlike Colette's blonde hair. When I see that it makes me think the previous chosens failed due to the fact that none of them were blonde LOL.
What's even more amusing is that they might have been part of Yggy's body/soul transfer ritual for Martel unlike in the game the bodies were absent from this. Too bad we don't get to see Spiritua among them although one of those bodies could be her.

Colette's perfect mana signature came from her blond hair D: Despite the fact Martel had green hair. And that she was a half-elf. Ok, there's 4k years between Martel and Colette, but I can't understand how a human can have the same mana signature of a half-elf.
...I'm not going there. Though it probably shows Yggy stopped being in contact with reality a long time ago.
He could have tried to transfer Martel's spirit/consciousness/whatever in all of those bodies, just for the ritual to fail everytime. Gotta wonder how many times it failed because the vessel wasn't good or Martel rejected the transfer.

Because it's creepy, because it offers place for lots of headcanons, because it's a ground-breaking point in the plot so far and I always take advantage of those? XD
So many angles in this countdown *-* I just regret I haven't managed to place the coffins better.
