May I have an example of an occasion where the green symbols would glow? is it more of a magical thing or is there a science fantasy twist on it?

it's more a magical thing associated with feelings etc. But this reff's actually pretty outdated already and there's far less of those green spots in Firris' design these days. I should prolly update this :"D

oh hey one more thing I see a lot of this format for animal people. is there some kind of outline everyone is using or does everyone just use the same format as an unspoken rule?

you mean the pose/lineart? Not really, but since the reference sheets exists to give as clear image of the character as possible almost everyone uses these neutral front (and back) poses.
