Let me start out by saying that out of all the things I've ever drawn, this was probably the biggest pain in the butt.

My hand hurts. And my eyes hurt. And my back hurts from sitting motionless on the couch all afternoon.

However.

I like it.

I wanted to blow it up super big so that all the detail could be seen, but it skewed everything just enough that I didn't like the way it looked (I've included a couple detail shots below). That sleeve and bent elbow were an absolute nightmare, but I'm fairly pleased with the result. On the belt, I cheated and did one half and then copied and pasted the flipped version so I wouldn't have to draw the exact same design backwards. All the little tiny details in the belt and vambrace are basically just lines that I scribbled in the general shape of what I saw in the reference photo, and then I blurred them and added highlights and contrast. I'm afraid some things turned out a little too blurry in comparison with others, but you can't really tell when it's zoomed all the way out.

There were a couple of other little details that I changed from the reference just for simplicity's sake.

The sleeve also ended up looking a little sharp against the background but oh well...

I was also gonna add "Requiescat in pace" in some fancy font in the background, but then I decided that I've had text in too many of my drawings lately and that it didn't look that great anyway.

Anywho, took me about a thousand years in GIMP with my Wacom tablet.
