have you ever shot the oceano dunes? not in the motorcycle area but back in the walking part?

I have shot the dunes a few times but really want to focus more on it. Sort of missed out on the winter months when you can get some really great skies, and create some real mood. I think this time of year I would focus on lighting and shapes.

how do you usually get into the dunes? ive found a little back entrance where you walk through an RV park and it dumps you right into the middle of the dunes.

Yeah thats a good way I guess, I came out that way once. I usually take a longer way because I love the creek nearby. The Arroyo Grande Creek which you can see all over my gallery. I walk that out toward the ocean and cut an east fork over creek onto an old horse trail. I take that through an oak forest overgrown with vines and ivy, and that also leads into the dunes. Or you could park at the oceano turnout parking lot, and make the long walk. Either way, its a journey.

The dunes are VAST though, stretching at least another 10 miles south backing up against Guadalupe which are where the largest dunes on the western hemisphere are. And man, if you never been out there then we gotta go. Its incredibly remote and other wordly. I have pics in my gallery from there to, and actually I need to post a few old ones that I recently went back to and reprocessed.
