Don't be fooled by the cool armor, smoke pipe and the supposed confidence in his face because while this guy is a strong warrior he's actually pretty average in his skills. Due to Henkei’s appearance it makes people less likely to buy his products or even trust him which brings in less customer, while he has a few loyal buyers that buy from him regardless of his appearance but Henkei still needs more than a few customers, so Henkei has a person that sell his items in public a man named Yoshirou. Being suggested by Henkei's other friend Rokuyo who had been old childhood friends with Yoshirou, Henkei was not exactly please to learn just how much of a lazy greedy he was, but because he was also a yokai hunter himself Henkei belieaved that the two could beneifit from one another. So Henkei sadly is forced to grant Yoshirou’s desires by having him be the man selling the yokai parts, and bring him along on hunting trips while the two split the money 50-50. Over the many years they've been parents Yoshirou has gotten to know Henkei quite well, he understands the way Henkei thinks, how he fights and knows more about Henkei's past than almost anyone and despite how much it may seem that they hate each other, whenever Henkei has gone through an especially rough day he'll play the song Itsuki lullaby on his Shaimsen and Yoshirou who enjoys listening to Henkei's music would make a cup of tea and the two would watch the sunset and relax. However Yoshirou is no where near Henkei's level of skill, but for a while he was fine with that fact until his eyes were open to just how much he needs to improve. When an Oni attacked the town where they lived, despite knowing the immense power that Oni possessed he ordered Yoshirou to help evacuate the civilians while he took on the beast despite Henkei not being as powerful at the time. With all the civilians gathered to safety, Yoshirou foolishly went back to try and help Henkei fight even though their was no way he could hope to help in killing an Oni. The Oni soon spotted Yoshirou and charged directly at him in order to eat his flesh! Terrified beyond all belief, and unable to get away, Yoshirou prepared for death until Henkei in his fox form rammed into the side of the creature to knock him off course. As the battle continued Yoshirou witness Henkei with his skin scared, his fur singed from the fire, his eyes showing his struggle but devotion to defeating this monster of which a site Yoshirou did not forget. The Oni was eventually defeated and reconstruction of the town began with Henkei resting from his wounds in the battle, while Yoshirou decided to do some thinking. Watching Henkei risk his life for him despite being engaged in life threatening battles, made him feel a sense of guilt for his weakness and how he much of burden to Henkei he was. While Henkei fought endless battles against impossible odds, his weakness forced him to remained in the background being a burden and restraint on him, Henkei's compassion was waisted on him so he decided to change himself and improve. Yoshirou felt that he need to get stronger and began his journey to never be a burden ever again!
