While Maractus is a very forgettable Pokemon, I do find that it has its own charm to it. It's in no way an unappealing design, just a little lackluster. While I was kind of disappointed with it being assigned to me for this collab, I took a glance at the flowers and stalks on its head and after a minute went "Okay so those look like eye stalks". I've seen some of the most interesting sea slugs out there, and felt that it would not be very hard to turn Maractus into a sea slug. I was correct with this assumption.

#556 - Maractus (Cactus Pokemon)

Though being identified as a grass type, Maractus are most closely related to the likes of Shellos. They are some of the strangest Pokemon known to mankind as they can be found in two vastly different environments: the ocean and deserts. Due to its abilities, it is able to soak up any water within a mile from it and can be fueled to travel miles inland if it receives adequate sunlight. Hordes of these creatures migrate from the ocean into deserts to avoid any cold currents that are brought in during hurricane season. They were originally mistaken for cacti when researchers were traveling through the barren landscapes of the Orre region and saw the Maractus in the distance, balancing on their spiky tailend with their bodies absorbing sunlight. The "flowers" on their heads are actually their eyestalks, while the eye markings close to their mouth help deter enemies from attacking. The soft fronds on their bodies are filled with a painful neurotoxin that paralyzes predators long enough for the Maractus to make a surprisingly quick escape.
