It is a pity I had to change it as now I have to put in that awful watermark again, to prevent yet another attempt on theft.

My take is this, if someone wants something bad enough they are going to take it regardless, watermark or not. I am not really all that concerned, as my images are so small that they are basically worthless or something like printing
