Description
This is the finished product of a poster project we were given in class, ironically I think it was assigned after Earth Day. I decided to avoid the usually earth day cliches and go for a bit more abstract and somewhat vintage poster feel. I like the way it turned out, and honestly I was over halfway done before I realized the bottom half looked kind of evil and the top half looked all happy. I guess I've started doing design subconsciously now!Related content

This is actually ironic in a way--on top the animals looks all peaceful and such and then as you look below it's man who is ruining the planet--I know you didn't mean to do this or even make too strong a statement in this but it actually came out as a strong poster.
Subtle too--it's not all in your face about it.

are you wondering if it was made in Photoshop? If so the answer is actually no, it was made in Illustrator

Gosh! I don't have illustrator, only Photoshop and GIMP. But is it possible in Photoshop? With the brushes and everything?

it would be very possible to do it in Photoshop. Many of the tools I use are actually symbol fonts, so you could easily use brushes to create a similar image, and since there is a vectoring tool in Photoshop you could use that for what you needed. Using gradients and textures would actually be easier in Photoshop as well

I pretty much made it using fonts like animal fonts and paint splash fonts, I just started with the circle in the middle and choose items that would represent both sides. I know that's not a huge explanation, but I really didn't do much other than that!!!

I like it. It kinda looks like a Coca Cola commercial, in a good way. Very eye-catching, well designed, nice colors (even if they're a bit too bright next to your lovely vintage pictures). And it does look a bit "heaven/hell", I guess, with animals and nature on the "heaven" side and humans on the "hell" side. Subconscious designing, indeed.

It's really neat how the black cities and buildings are taking over the once happy and colourful earth, but they're dripping a trail of dirty black bubbles....wow. Great job. What about an Earth Day 2008 poster, huh?
