Description This man is a hoplite serving in the Bosporan Kingdom, he is probably middle class and would have been in the middle ranks of a phalanx.

He wears trousers and a long-sleeve tunic to compensate for the cold and marshy Crimean climate. He wears a Pilos helmet, the most common helmet for his day, and a Chlamys cloak. His belt and brooch are of Scythian manufacture, and he carries a short sword similar to the Vergina tomb find. His Aspis displays a cheetah, associated with the god Dionysos, but probably will never even see a cheetah in his lifetime.

The cheetah is based off the Macedonian mosaic at Pella, from the 5th century BC. The mosaic displays a naked Dionysos riding a cheetah, which sounds like a hell of a party.
