Started off as a speedpaint, but i ended up spending way too much time on it XPStill not sure whether i like it or not. I can't make up my mind at the moment, lol.
Yay for scale experimentation. I hate working on them as they're boring and take too long. Which ends up in me making the scales themselves look boring. I've gotta make myself try harder with them
I rushed the wing membrane too.

The wing membrane is OK, its great that you were experimenting with translucent/transparency. I feel that your earlier dragons tended to have rather 'cartoony' heads, which you have got away from, which is a notable improvement, from my point of view. It was good to experiment with the scales, at least it adds to the originality of the picture, if nothing else. There are just SO many pictures of dragons out there!

Say, you're the second person I've seen that's mentioned they took "too long" on a speedpaint drawing and didn't quite enjoy the outcome as much as they'd hoped. 
Heh, well in my opinion, you ought to be proud of this. :] I know a lot of people who wish they could produce this kind of artwork on a regular basis, myself included. One of the most interesting depictions of an original dragon I've seen in awhile. That's amazing to me--you by yourself are able to come up with countless original winged creatures on a regular basis. Intricate details in the scales and wings...right down to the emerald glare in its eyes and shrouded background.
Too cool, keep it up.

Wow, you really seem to have a massive 'dragon' following on dA! It seems like almost anyone with 'dragon' in their name comes to comment on your pix- I see why too. The dragons have action and excellant form. So many pix of dragons are in very plain profile views, whereas you make the most of the shading and 3d potential of your art form.
The scales are more visible here than before- they show up on the smaller view, which is good because so many artists avoid them altogether. I urge you to continue working on them- do small seperate drawings and sketches, experimenting with textures and posibilities.
The positioning of the foreleg and the wing in our conventional portrayal of dragons is interesting, don't you think? Each has to correspond to the forelimb of other animals, unless one portrays them in their wyvern form, with only two legs.
I like the way the tail is faintly visible through the membrane of the wing- keep it very faint- dragon's wings should correspond to bats wings, translucent.
I don't like the wiggly shape of the forearm bit on the left wing; it seems an unlikely shape.
Do as L.da Vinci did and study bats wings and reptiles if you want to get the best feel for dragon 'realism'
You are stepping towards the top class of dragon artists. Keep going!

I'm definitely going to continue with scales. You'll definitely start seeing more of them ^-^
I agree with yoou on the forearm. I had some trouble positioning it.
I've got billions of referrences on my hardrive. But i don't really make much use of them, which i should do. I'm too lazy to sort through them sometimes XP
And i will definitely keep going!!
