Like the cover of The Art of War, this illustration was made for the cover of a bundle of adventure games called Kings of Adventure featuring Deponia, Sherlock Holmes vs Jack The ripper, Dracula Origin, Yesterday, Jack Keane & HollyWood Monsters 2 (aka The Next Big Thing).

Initially the title was The Art of Adventure and the idea surrounding my head was how to honor all these games within an artistic framework. I based the illustration in the painting Las_Meninas by the great spanish artist Velázquez. I swapped the members of such masterpiece with the protagonists of each adventure. Rufus, as the great artist he is, takes the role of the painter Velázquez. Goal becomes the protagonist of the scene becoming the Infanta with Dracula very interested in his neck. To the right, John Yesterday claimed his starring role in his adventure, whose edition of FX (New York Crimes) did not have him in the front cover. Beside we can see the adventurer Jack Keane and the newshound of the monsters, Dan Murray. Ahead, the Poet of Pain poses with Toby, the peculiar pet of The Next Big Thing. Finally, by back door appear Sherlock Holmes and Watson.

A detail: the lantern carrying Sherlock Holmes is taken from my illustration Amnesia on a personal nod to my own work. I made this pose with the lamp for the figure of Daniel from a sketch done for the cover of Sherlock Holmes: The Avakening.
