Description

A friend, Nekktar , had some wonderful ideas for a fantasy cervine species and I had to put them down on a canvas XD So I did a quick stream and doodled up what I saw in my head, as I was very much inspired.

The anatomy is derpy haha I have not drawn hoofed animals in so long!

Some facts about these guys:

* They have powerful, heavy spurs on their hooves that make their kicks deadly. They also have a dangerous set of sharp tusks.

* Despite their intimidating appearance, these deer are herbivores and do not eat any meat.

* Their antlers have marks that resemble "demonic" eyes. These eye-marks glow in the dark along with their actual eyes which give them a frightening appearance in the dark and makes them less likely to be approached by any real night-time monsters.

* The spurs and tusks of these deer are naturally red at the ends, giving predators a false warning signal that they have just caused serious damage to another who dared to approach. Basically, the red resembles blood but there's not actually blood there lol

* Both males and females have antlers of the same sizes.

* The only difference between male and female Streolle deer is the fact that males have orange antler-marks with yellow "iris" spots while females have red antler-marks with orange "iris" spots. An example of a female would be the image you see, above.

* One can tell the age of a Streolle by the size of its tusks. Their tusks begin growing during their adolescence and they continue to grow until the deer passes away.  An elder Streolle's tusks may grow to be the length of their front legs.

* Their heavy spurs and huge antlers make it difficult to run as fast as most deer, so their natural defenses are very handy when predators get bold.

* The Streolle have two sets of eyes. The extra smaller eyes help the deer see better in the dark and also adds to the "monstrous" look these beings have at night.

* Along with the usual bellows and grunts heard from most cervine, Streolle deer also make an intimidating series of growls and howls at night to help frighten/trick predators

* Streolle deer are usually the most active in the late afternoons and through the night.

* These guys can have almost any markings/colors/color patterns as long as they are natural. (They can't be say blue with bright red circles all over them or anything of that sort XD Only markings and colors found in mammals in nature! )

As I mentioned in the title of this deviation, this species is open for free use! Take these guys and use them for your stories/RPs/RP groups/Adoptables/ etc (with proper credit given, please? )

Hi it is amazing crature and awesome art but I have a question...how did you do this blurry efect on whole picture ? But not color blend, but blur on the edges, especially where its hooves are.

Oh my, this is old but I'm still really happy you like it!

The "soft effect" I used here was accomplished after I completed the image and saved it as a .png file. I opened the .png file in Gimp (could also use Photoshop or Krita [a free program] to do this), duplicated the layer, used Gaussian Blur on the top layer and then lowered the opacity.

I hope I explained that well enough I'm not the best at explaining
