Description ...my birthday for my dear and long dated friend ...Happy birthday dearest Philippe, may You have a gorgeous day!
Thanks for Your precious friendship all over those years and Your constant support
youtu.be/J2LQShU9xBg one of the last songs of our common beloved Artist, Leonard Cohen...
PS: A very old Oil painting on canvas(60x50cm)...painted more than 25 years ago, one of my first oil paintings, actually a study, of a famous painting of "the Thinker" a poster of a painting(unknown Artist), I saw somewhere, and painted it a bit "my way"...never thought to share it , before...

... ...You can feel , being a thinker?Or to be in solitude while thinking? Or feel to be alone with Your thoughts among others?...

For sure I can...
't is the story of my life, it started in my childhood growing up on a bardge!
(my DA name means "Sillent scream" or in Dutch "Ongehoorde Schreeuw".)

...oh, really? You have been growing up on a barge, a kind of "peniche boat",as they call it in French? ...that must have been amazing!    You traveled around a lot than...maybe not always easy, for making friends etc...so of course , lots of solitude and isolation, without any doubt ...but a big discovery of incredible things, I bet!:iconcuteeagreplz:
...Indeed and of course I understood Your DA name Stiller Schrei...das hat mich auch sofort "angesprochen, als ich Ihren Avatar gesehen hatte...ich kenne solche "stillen Schreie" nur zu gut...

Like the cargo boats that travel river Meuse... My father had a bardge and he travelled a lot from Ridderkerk in the Netherlands to Klapbeek in Belgium, it was a wonderful route those days... Crossing the Ooster and Wester Schelde. I've seen many many beautiful rises and sunsets, was in heavy storms etc etc.
But even as a child I felt the solitude, the desire to be on the land and play with other kids...
If you know that too, then that makes us soul mates!

...A real adventure, You are describing...with all the beauties and discoveries...and the certainly sad downsides...especially ,as a child...
Yes, I know such solitude and result of those feelings, in different circumstances, of course...but the result is the same... , and maybe so we were able, or had need to create our own little kingdom or world...and the need to express those emotions , somehow  in Art ...

I've always had this "inside world" in which I could retreat! Later it was music, now it's art!!

Funny thing happened - before I read your entire description-comment, I thought: Hummm - It reminds me The Thinker from Rodin, different an similar because both figures are absort and yet relaxed, though I must say yours is more of your title "Adonis".
I have to say masterpiece! Congratulations to you... Happy birthday Mr. Phillipe.

floriaiglenoir In reply to Kay-March [2017-07-27 07:12:54 +0000 UTC]

...hehe...yes, the Thinker of Rodin, indeed...This was a painting I saw somewhere, as I explained, a little poster, I took a photography  of it, quality was very bad.The colors have been totally different, and even the shape was much more..."massive", so I modeled him ...to my own taste, lol.And added a little greek touch into it...of course. I never found out, who initially painted , what I saw on the poster. But he did it good, for sure. And to paint on basis of another painting, is not easy, I tried it with some paintings of Magritte, years ago, when I was asked to  paint a few in very huge size, for a special "tribute" celebration" of this famous painter than. But I honestly prefer to be creative with my own inspirations, what I am always doing(beside two exceptions , I mentioned, ).
And Philippe is a very dear and lovely, long dated friend , indeed. Do You have the pleasure to know him, as well?
Wishing You a wonderful day, my Dearest.
You so much for Your very nice comment and support.

It's always best to create your own things based on ideas, thoughts, imagination or dreams, because you're definitely put whole of you to do an absolute original
Hehe!! Yes, the Greek touch was noticed... but I was kind of lost in other... forms!

No I haven't met Phillipe, just heard you talking about him frequently as your friend, so I guess he must be another beautiful soul.
