This is a cream spot tiger moth Arctia villica, made in preparation for an upcoming craft fair. Tiger moths have very interesting predator defense mechanisms, many are poisonous and are brightly coloured so that it is easy for predators to learn to avoid them. So far, fairly normal. But some tiger moths, since they are hunted by bats, will "shout" when they hear bats nearby, to warn them not to bother trying to eat them.

This bead version is 6cm long and the wings can fold over the body to hide the bright hindwings.

Materials:
Size 11 and 15 seed beads, 0.2mm copper wire.
