beautiful photo.. the toning is key.. the composition reveals so much about the rest of the space.. yet the reflection keeps a focus on the child..

everything has been said already.. marvelous photo.

This is so good Alex. The use of shapes, shadows, monochrome and that wonderful hint of colour on the little girl is wonderful. You have definately got an eye for good shots.

To be honest with all the work troubles I stopped altogether my photography. In a way I wanted to and I didnt...

I suppose i find it difficult to let loose a bit when my mind is troubled. I enjoy taking photographs when I am relaxed and carefree.

I cant wait to see your photos though.. any chance of street ones (you know how much I love your street photography )

really enjoying this revision without the text. makes a strong & uninterrupted statement. The form in the foreground rocks! It's so simply and so clearly female. This is some of your best work on DA I think. Kudos

to be honest is quite scary, cause its the first time that I have 20 favourites on one photo and something like 150 pageviews! I am scared that whatever I do now will never reach that amount of "appeal" to other people...but.. as long as I express myself, that is all that matters at the moment, cause that I what I have left in a way.

Thank you for your kind words Gary

no, i should thank you for sharing the way you see. Success on any scale is always more scary than failure!

Have you ever heard of Brian Eno's (the musician, producer & artist) Oblique Strategies? As a way of dealing with creativity, failure & habit, he and collaborators would write these often vague instructions down and when needed would randomly select one then do whatever it said. One of my favorites reads "Take the mistake and turn it into the solution". Another reads "Bridges, not walls" Here's a link to a website that will randomly draw a solution for you...
[link]

I have a deck of the actual cards I keep at work. I've often been surprised at just how appropriate the card I draw turns out to be. Not vague at all, but entirely specific to whatever situation is going on at the moment. A coworker introduced me to an interesting technique where he draws several at once at arranges them like Tarot cards, saying "this is your past, this is your future, etc..."

I tried those cards myself and actually I was quite suprised with the results!

My next goal is to learn the tarots... well I will try and see what happens

how are you gary?

Going through a bit of an uncertain time, but trying to stay open to what life has in store over the next month. I'm a big believer in chance & serendipity, but it comes as a shock to me to see how appropriate some of the randomly drawn Strategies can be. Then again, I sometimes play a game with myself where I grab a book at random and select a passage at random to see if it means anything. Not really as focused as the Strategies though.

sometimes uncertainty is good, not in extremes though..

it has a sweet taste when it turns pleasant unexpectly dont you think?
