You can love an object, though perhaps passion is a better word. You can be passionate about/for an object, but it cannot return your passion, nor any good feelings one might have back at you. It cannot be a soul mate because it has no soul. It can entertain, it can be cherished, it can be admired, but it cannot love you or do any of those things back. If you think it can then your mind has forged an illusion, a pale imitation, a white unicorn if you will. If you find more pleasure in a fictional horse than in the potential best that humanity has to offer I will have to judge your desires as skewed, and will say no more.
