Thanks.....I see so many other cars done but the mid 60's Novas - dominance in drag racing and your paint scheme would have looked great on my 1966 ..if I didn't want to keep it a rat racer. It's not overdone - the blue is classic of the Chevy's in that era, the white and orange work well but it's not an overkill - the scoop flows well into the Nova's Design. Great looking concept - now if GM would bring out a new Nova with the new Camaro...

Same here, The early Nova's classic Drag car and I can understand the Camaro (new ponycar wars) but a new/retro Nova would be great - and personally if they did right I think that would end looking the best of bunch....oh well, thankfully we have concepts.

The Nova is my favourite american car. This illustration is great too.

so do you redraw your pencil lines? i'm wanting to do this sort of thing for an upcoming project (ie hand drawing first and including my lines) rather than the way i've been doing it. it really gives the car a conceptual feel that i'd like to go for. i thought about using PS and then putting my lines on top after but it seems like redrawing them might just be easier or better even.

Thanks! It really has that West Coast feel.... and thanks for liking my stuff so much.... If you're ever in a bad mood, though, just write "this sucks" or something, and I'll take it in stride!

Great illustration of a great little car. A friend of mine had fastback Nova with a 283, I think it was a '67 or '68, a real sweet car.
I love how you get the look of nice loose brush strokes. It looks like one of those old car illustration done with designers gouache. Excellent work!

Thanks for the comment/compliment! I've been working to mimic the older method (i.e. hand drawn) of automotive illustration via digital methods.... I'm considering even using Photoshop to create some cool "wash" sketches, maybe in grayscale....
Thanks again, though for looking and commenting! It's always an honor coming from you!

The bits I love most about this one are the front grille/bumper and windows. The front grille and bumper just look amazing, I think the tint of blue coming from the chrome really kicks in. (Also note the hint of orange in the tip of front and back bumper!)
As for the windows, they look so realistic, tinted then you've got the interior coming through, obviously looking slightly darker because of the windows.
The orange strip down the center nicely splits up the blue and white wrongly clashing!

Thank you! Especially, thanks for looking so close, and taking note of the subtleties.... I was worried that the color choices might distract, or even be a turn-off.... but it seemed to make the little car take on greater length, and just looks natural.
In hindsight, maybe a bit more detail on the interior....
