Description Plush of Edward Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist in his Briggs attire ~ commissioned by ~Korona-Korm for a friend.

It was great to get the opportunity to make Ed again. The first plushie I ever made was of Ed [link] ...I think I've improved a lot since then!

He has a cute little pocket watch that opens ~ I'm really pleased with how well it turned out!
I've never used fluffy material like this before, but I found it surprisingly easy to add ...however, naturally, both myself and my room were covered in fluff afterwards.

I hope you and your friend like him ~Korona-Korm !

Please don't upload this on Tumblr, instead, like/reblog from here: [link]

I've made a few teddies before the most complex being this one: iglybo.deviantart.com/art/Plus… and my plan is for somthing way simpler than that so should be fine just have to wait for my wrists to get better XD
It is a really nice touch, I love little inventive touches like that ^^

Thank you ^-^ Yeh hours and hours of embroidery I was pretty sick of it by the end. XD
Thanks ^^ started out as a result of too much carving but now it won;t let me sew or do much of anything without pain, stupid RSI :/

WOW. I've been looking for Ed plushies all morning (a present for a very special person who worships everything FMA), and this is the best I've seen o.o I actually made an account just to comment.

How long does it take you to make one of these?
Do you still do commissions?
If not, you seem to know more than a thing or two about plushies - where would you recommend I go for commissions? Anything FMA or MCU would be wonderful.

Thank you so much! I certainly learnt a lot between making both Ed's

And I really think you should give it a go ~ definitely worth a shot (if you do, I'd love to see it once you're done!)

ShamineSaif [2012-12-26 05:22:42 +0000 UTC]

Did you paint the eyes? What type of material did you use for the plushie?

I just started out and I'm using felt. Is that right?

I understand if you prefer to keep it secret, but I'll just try my luck - how did you make his watch?

This is even better than your previous Eds! I'm so jealous, I want one to cuddle too :3

can you share the pattern for the body and the head?

I understand if you have reservations, but if you can share how you made his clothes and boots i would be really grateful..:3

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

FlyingRabbitMonkey In reply to ShamineSaif [2012-12-28 12:45:29 +0000 UTC]

Sorry, but I don't really want to give out my pattern for the body and head, seeing as I sell these plushies.
As for the clothes and shoes, I do have a specific way of making them, but it's too tricky to explain in a written message (and it wouldn't work to draw a quick tutorial this time ) ~ maybe one day I will do a proper tutorial for them, complete with photos. ...but I'm not sure when that will be.
But, as I said in another message, be sure to check out the collections over at #Plushie-Database ! They have all sorts of tutorials that I'm sure would help you out

FlyingRabbitMonkey In reply to ShamineSaif [2012-12-26 05:35:26 +0000 UTC]

Yes I painted the eyes ~ there's a great tutorial on how to do it here: [link]
Also, there's another awesome tutorial here for the hair: [link]
For this doll, the skin is doll velour, but everything else is felt. Felt is great, and the best place to start ~ it's nice and easy to use.
I'll explain how I did the watch in a quick drawn turorial (it's hard to explain in writing) ~ I'll make the tutorial as soon as I can, and put it in another reply.

Thank you! It's really satisfying to see yourself improve ...the key is practice, practice, practice!

I couldn't help but be nosy >.< I apologize , but I had a question about painting the eyes. Hope that's okay? At first I thought they were like printed eyes that were ironed on. I never thought of painting them on actually, so this is a complete surprise to me (: Are the eyes painted on felt or a different material? I can't really tell that well from the picture haha. My eye sight is poor >.<

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

FlyingRabbitMonkey In reply to MelzyV [2012-12-28 03:52:18 +0000 UTC]

No worries ~ I'm happy to answer your question

Painting the eyes is the last thing I do, so I'm actually painting them straight on the doll. The material I used here is doll velour. I used to make the bodies of my dolls out of felt, and still painted the eyes in the same way, but this was very frustrating because the felt is so fuzzy. I would definitely suggest picking a smoother material for the skin if you plan to paint the face.

The only thing with painting the eyes last, is that there is no room for error. To try and minimise mistakes, there are a couple of things I do: firstly, I draw the face on a piece of paper exactly how I will try to paint it (I even draw it the same size, and in a circle that is the same shape as the plush's face). On the drawing I divide the circle/face into quarters. Before I paint the face on the plush, I use pins and cotton to divide the plush's face into quarters just like on the drawing. This makes it a lot easier to accurately paint it.

I hope that made sense Sorry for writing such a long reply.

do you have a tutorial for the body of the plushie and or any links for the clothes?

an unrelated question.. do you not mind telling me all this? not that i'm complaining, you have me eternally grateful, :3 , but you could use this knowledge to make profits. how did you start out? o.o

are you a big fan of fma?

FlyingRabbitMonkey In reply to ShamineSaif [2012-12-28 12:39:06 +0000 UTC]

I don't have a tutorial for the body, but if you go here: [link] you should be able to find a collection of lots of different patterns and tutorials. They are all very different, and vary in difficulty, but hopefully you'll be able to find something you like!
is an awesome resource if you're ever stuck ~ here they have different clothes tutorials: [link]

I don't mind at all! I'm more than happy to help.
I first got into plushing after seeing all of the amazing plushies made by people here on deviantART. *pheleon and *LadyoftheSeireitei were (and still are) a huge inspiration to me. Also, plushing was the prefect way to put off doing my homework

Yes I definitely am! Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood was basically my introduction to anime ~ it will always be my favorite anime of all time! I love the other version of the FMA anime as well, and the manga is great

Seems like Ed is a great starting point And thank you so much I'm really proud of him so far. If I may ask, though, how did you make the hood on his coat? That's the one thing I'm stumped about because in all the reference pictures I have, his hood is just magically there. Tt doesn't look like it's sewn on, just like it's a continuation of the collar. Oh, and no problem for the watch. I'd love to see what else you can make! Your plushies are adorable!

...I'm really sorry for not answering your question sooner ~ It's tricky to explain how I made his hood in a comment, but this tutorial [link] by *AshFantastic explains it (I do mine pretty much the same way). I hope that helps!
And thank you again

Thank you for your interest!
...but this guy was commissioned by another person, so he has already been sold.

If you would like to try and make your own, I suggest you have a look at tutorials here on deviantart ~ there are a lot of them out there, and they are really helpful!
Namely, ~pheleon has a few tutorials in their gallery ([link] for hair, and [link] for eyes), they even have a pattern that you can use: [link] .
Also, in the favorites of #Plushie-Database there are a lot of tutorials/patterns as well ([link] for human patterns, [link] for clothes). There are so many out there, and they vary greatly in complexity, but I hope you will be able to find something to try.

Send one to all your friends who you think deserve a hug (which, hopefully includes the person who sent it to you)!!

You might send it to your enemies as well!
It'll really make them stop and think!!!

If you don't receive this back, nobody likes you, and they wish you'd stop bugging them!

If you receive this back 1 time, open up! Find more friends, enemies, or enemies pretending to be friends

If you receive this back 2 times, you're off to a good start! (Unless you sent it to yourself! That's cheating!)

If you receive this back 3 times, you're a good friend.

If you receive this back 4 times, you're truly loved as a friend!!
