Description Given that it's my first try at using stock, I guess it's not that awful.

Took the title from a line of Nightwish's For The Heart I Once Had.

This is a somewhat symbolic (since it doesn't represent any particular scene) piece for my Sand-centric NWN2 fanfic Frozen Heart, featuring the OC present, Rustyn Khelba. Rustyn, Chaotic Evil Moon Elf Wizard, wonders about her lost loving heart, while kneeling by her natural element, the sea. Somewhere deep inside, she knows the path she chose so long ago is a bad one, as all she wants is to be loved and cared for - and still hopes to find someone who could help her. I wanted the whole image to turn mostly towards shades of blue, except for her eyes and the pendant she is holding, as its warm color is that of her forgotten feelings.

Color alteration, combination of the images, adjusting them together, tears, Rustyn's hair, her gorgeous "sunset eyes" are made by me.

Thanks for the elven ears to:
Thanks for the waves on the seashore to
Thanks for the full moon night to:
The two pendants (used only a detail of one of them) belong to dearest
And most importantly, the gorgeous model (cut off lots of her hair, changed the color of the dress, basically tortured the poor image...):

Overall

Vision

Originality

Technique

Impact

The image has a beautiful setup, the blue tones giving the image an air of sadness and despair that I believe the artist wanted to capture (I read a chapter, and the story is divine!). The white of the moon and the red of her eyes and the stone of the pendant provide some interesting counterpoints to the multitude of blue tones in the image.
Sadly enough, the technique can still be somewhat refined. There are still some rough edges where too little was cut away from the original image (around the elf ears and at the bottom of the dress) and some areas where I suspect too much was cut away (at the left side of her dress, where it looks a bit 'edged'). Also, it bothers me that the pendants' resolution is clearly less than the model's, so they also look a bit off.
But then we reach the impact, the 'wow' effect of the image, and we return to the above analysis: the image oozes sadness, right the way you wanted it, and you're drawn to look at her eyes, which are - truly - the mirrors of the soul.

All in all: this image is nice, but if you ever edit or re-do this piece with some attention to the remaining 'white dots' around the pieces you use for the collage and the resolution of the images used, you'll have a stunning piece of art that's bound to turn heads!

Thank you very much! Strangely enough, the elf ears were not cut off - I added them later on And I know, her eyes became too intense (as they're supposed to be orange, not red), but then again, the impact is greater this way Thank you also for pointing out all those mistakes - I'm not really comfortable using stocks - yet! - so I'll try to improve the aspects you said if I decide to do more manips. (Oh, and thanks for calling my story "divine", too!)

Wow, this is beautiful! The atmosphere and the colors are both very nice - I especially like the way you managed to bring out Rustyn's sun set eyes in spite of the blue hues of the image. Nightwish's song fits the theme very well, too. I must say this is a great manip to be your first one! It's not easy to create night scene, and I can tell this is way better than my first attempts at photomanipulation. I hope you will create more in future!
Thank you so much for using my stock! I'm so glad you found it useful!

I am recently very inspired by Nightwish - I think I'll give out more titles based on their songs

I am NOT critiquing this because it is a damn great first manip!

Why, thank you very much! Everyone around is using stock, and I didn't want to stick to my pencil sketches any more... so yeah. Yes, there probably will be more, but not now - took a break from studying to do this.

It is a whole new world, and boy is it a large one. There is always so much to learn. I find the best way is to just get the idea and start on it. As you are working you will get ideas and questions...how do I do X or X...then you seek the answers.

Feel free to ask me anytime you have a question about manips. If I cannot answer it I will try and find out for you.
