Combing the beach for stuff is a fun way to pass the time with friends. Anything could wash up; some flotsam, shells, kelp, a small whale, etc. Say, what’s that over there?

"I'M TELLING MOM!!!!" screeched Leotie as her tiny feet brushed sand angrily off of her beak. Sand. The sand was EVERYWHERE. Her angry laid back ears twitched in frustration as she watched her seven brothers sqwak and fly off without her, rattling about something of a 'boys only club' or other such nonsense. Leo was upset. Still quite young, she couldn't fly as well as her older brothers and as they flipped and whistled away on the wind, the little lady was stuck on the beach, rubbing her paws together trying to get the beach out in between her toesies. She just wanted to be good at flying and show her brothers up for once. With a small hicup and a huff, the young gryph laid her head down in the warm scratchy stuff resigning herself to her boring fate alone on the beach.

That was until she heard a soft shuffle of paws and a large shadow pass over her.

"That was a pretty nasty fall." A soft and happy voice crooned out to her. Leotie jumped to her feet as a strange gryphon from another clan towered over her. Immediately shy and blushing, the girl took a step back not saying a word. The male gryph frowned softly taking another step towards her. "Don't worry! I don't bite!" He smiled. Leotie cocked her head slightly at him, a bit embarrassed and not sure what to say. After a few seconds, the clouded leopard gryph realized the young Twistolt wasn't going to say anything so he opened up his wings and smiled. "Y'know... I could help teach you how to make that turn you tried to do just a minute ago. I've got a bit of skill in the air." Almost instantly Leo jumped to her feet, her little bob tail twitching with excitement.
"You would!" She exclaimed, a smile appearing on her innocent face.
"I would!" The gryphon exclaimed back. Leotie opened her wings in exhilaration, before suddenly pausing, eying the gryphon suspiciously.
"Waaait... how do I know you can actually fly well?" She asked, doubting his prowess. With a small smirk, the dark gryphon burst into the air, his wings flapping hard as Leo's eyes followed his movements. Up! Down! Turn! Barrell roll! Hover! The gryphon was amazing! His twists in the air were perfectly timed and he danced like a master of the air in the sky. In one last move, the gryphon buckled his wings together plummeting like an arrow right at Leotie. The girl smiled as she watched him until... oh no! He was going to run into her! She had waited to long, mesmerized by his movements. With a small scream she covered her head with her paws and collapsed into the sand just waiting for the collision. ... Trembling she opened one eye and looked up. The gryphon was hovering not but an inch above her beak, smiling down at her. With a soft whuff, he landed and helped her up.
"My name is Kelios." He greeted happily to her.
"They call me Leotie." She smiled in return. With a quick flutter of feathers the two were off, owning the day with flight.
