Description Just a lil' tease and backstory on some adopts I'm going to auction off soon :3
They will each come with a name, personality, and full bio. Keep your eye out for these hatched babs soon! These eggs are not for sale. This is teasing the adopts I'm releasing soon.

Many years ago, in the Sky kingdom, a Firescales was born. Phoenix, as she was called, soon caught the queen’s attention. Instead of killing the dragonet like most Queens would, the queen saw great potential. This young dragon had the mindset and strong attitude she looked for in her bodyguards. And so the Queen of the SkyWings hired young Phoenix as her personal bodyguard. She trained her from a young age. The firescales learned quickly, and soon proved to be a loyal and effective bodyguard. By the time she was fifteen, Phoenix was the most highly respected guard in the entire kingdom. She had a reputation for being loyal, strong, and brave when needed, and had a fierce attitude towards all who opposed her queen. Phoenix stayed by her queen at all hours, and even slept in a room next to her. No dragon dared an attempt on the queen’s life once they learned she was guarded by a firescales.

One fateful day, during a trade deal with the NightWings, everything changed for Phoenix. There was a young NightWing ambassador at the meeting, called Timeseeker. He was about the same age as Phoenix. Timeseeker was in the Sky Kingdom to help initiate the trade deal. He was unlike any other dragon Phoenix had ever met. He did not cower before her like most, instead, he was mystified. He told her she was beautiful. They decided to meet at midnight, where they spoke for hours and hours. They continued meeting, long after the deal was over. But there was a problem. They could not touch. Her scales would burn him if he got too close, and it caused both of them lots of grief. This was the first time Phoenix had begun to think of her scales as a curse.

But Timeseeker would not give up. He vowed to find a way to make them able to touch, and he promised to never give up until he succeeded. And so, he set off to find a way. He tried making himself a suit of flame-retardant armor, but the heat coming off her scales heated the metal, which nearly burned his own scales. He searched far and wide for an animus who would be willing to help. The only known NightWing animus refused his offer, saying it was ‘dangerous to love a dragon from another tribe.’ It was years before he finally found a SandWing animus who said he might. After hearing Timeseeker’s story, the SandWing was so moved that he gave the NightWing a spell free of charge. The spell was within an earring, and it allowed him to touch her with no pain. It was as if she were normal to the touch. It allowed Phoenix to keep her fire, but also allowed them to touch. By this time, they were in their early twenties. Phoenix thought about running away with Timeseeker, but she knew the queen would disapprove if she found out about their relationship.

They continued meeting, and it wasn’t long before Phoenix gave birth to three eggs. As she cared for the eggs, she was away from her Queen more and more. The queen began to take notice of her favorite bodyguard’s absence, and decided to investigate. One night, she followed Phoenix at a distance, watching her every move. When she found not only was her favorite bodyguard in love with a NightWing, they had laid three eggs! She was outraged. She swooped in, furiously yelling at both of them . Fuming, she whirled around to face Phoenix.

“You should be ashamed of yourself! Abandoning your Queen to meet with some NightWing? You know better than that! I should destroy those eggs on the spot!”

“No! There must be some way we can apologize… Please, just let us go!” Sobbed Timeseeker. Phoenix stood protectively in front of the eggs, snarling. The queen thought for a moment.

“Well, I suppose there is one way…”

Timeseeker looked up. “Anything! Just please, don’t hurt the eggs!” A cruel grin spread across the queen’s face.

“I will allow you to stay together, but only until these hatch. Once that happens, I get to choose one of your dragonets to train as a soldier, or maybe even an assassin. Then this insufferable NightWing will take one back to his tribe, from which he will not return to the Sky Kingdom. And you, dear,” she gestured to Phoenix. “Will also take one of the dragonets to raise in the palace. You will get your job back, and nothing like this will ever happen again.”

The two dragons’ eyes widened in horror.

“You want to split us up? And take one of our dragonets?”

“It’s a fair deal, you know. Would you rather I killed them? Or even better, forced you to kill them? Because that’s option two.”

“No, I refuse to let you do this.” Timeseeker growled.

“Then I guess they’re going to die at my talons. Your choice.” The NightWing’s face contorted in pain and sadness at the Queen’s words.

“Tick tock, time’s running out!” the queen laughed.

“We have no choice, Timeseeker! Just let her do it!” cried Phoenix, trying to hide her tears.

“Fine... “ He choked. “B-but…” he couldn’t bring himself to say the words.

“You will be allowed to see each other on holidays, but no other time. Understood? Oh, and keep my newest assassin nice and healthy! I’ll  be here to pick it up in about a month!” she said as she took to the sky.

And so that is exactly what happened. One dragonet stayed with his mother in the palace, one chosen by the queen, and one went to the Night Kingdom with their father. Phoenix was so heartbroken that she became bitter and grumpy, and vowed never to love again. Timeseeker seemed to age faster, becoming tired and run-down at a relatively young age. He took to his study, and speaks to very few. And as for the eggs? Eight years later, they have grown into fine dragonets with interesting abilities and very different personalities. Who knows, maybe you’ll see them soon!

Characters, story, and art all belong to me. No tracing or stealing of any kind allowed. Thanks!

oooOOOoooo Cool!
Can Phoenix touch her eggs? And also, why did she not use her fire-scales on the queen?

ForbiddenDreaming In reply to AspenWinterhorn [2017-03-24 21:08:26 +0000 UTC]

Yes, but not for long periods of time. Since they half firescales, they can withstand more heat than a normal egg, but only for a little while.

She didn't use her firescales on the queen for a few reasons, first being that the queen was the one who raised her, and she pledged loyalty to her. Second, if the queen was killed without an heir, we get the SandWing succession war problem. If she used her firescales to injure the queen, the queen would have called in hundreds of armored soldiers to kill/capture/banish her. Even a firescales can't escape that. She also still has a bit of respect for her queen.
