A braggart and a charmer, Erin is quick to let his words leave a better impression than his actions. Working hard round the clock, Erin is someone who would easily exhaust himself on the most menial of tasks. However, in Erin’s mind there is nothing too small or trivial for his attention. He can be a bit of a pushover, not knowing when to turn down people asking things of him. His attention for detail is so great that it ranges far into perfectionism, to genuinely annoying levels. It is often that he holds others far too close to his own high standards of work; as such working alongside him can easily be a hassle.
Though for all his skill in whatever it is he is doing, there is hardly justifying Erin’s own cockiness. He sees himself as an absolute charmer and near unparalleled with a bow. Having gotten himself into trouble more times than it’s worth, Erin simply persists at all times that he is simply a paragon of many a skill, leading him to adopt the phrase “simply the best” into his vocabulary. Likewise Erin is often possessed of a tenacity that leads him to recklessness. This is especially evident in battle, during which times Erin’s own unwillingness to stop has lead him to many dangerous confrontations.
By the way Erin carries himself, it is quite easy to see two things. The first of these is that Erin comes from money. He has the charming tongue, postures, and etiquette of someone raised to fulfill a certain role in higher society. The second most thing that one may notice is that Erin was a pampered child at one point or another. Though it is much less evident than his monetary status, from the way Erin commands attention he is given and how comfortable he seems being in the limelight is quite telling. Essentially, Erin has all the trappings of someone from a comfortable life and while this may lead to preconceived notions on his conduct, Erin works hard in spite of his upbringing.
history. His story begins a ways back with his great-grandfather setting the stage for his own upbringing. The Kleinbaum family was a line of proud winemakers and vineyard owners who worked hard to provide the people of the Kingdom with a quality product. Erin’s father and his father before him were men who worked hard to continue that legacy, a legacy that paid off.
Erin was born into money, with parents who had enough to live more than comfortable lives just outside the city of Miras, working the land. A healthy boy from birth, Erin was taken with a love for being outside from a young age and seemed possessed by wanderlust as soon as he was able to walk. While he lived a comfortable life, Erin himself would never consider to be something so easy. Though, for him it was easier than his father had it.
Much of Erin’s childhood saw him in the forests surrounding his parents’ vineyard, shirking responsibility as much as possible. Gifted a bow at age eight, Erin had been introduced to the hunting and trapping, though it was more intended to be a skill than a real life for him, but Erin was enthralled. He spent day after day, year after year spending his free time in the forests, romping with his father’s hunting dogs and shooting arrows at anything that they’d stick to.
Though as he grew older, responsibility began to weigh on him. As the oldest of his siblings it would be up to Erin to assume responsibility of his parents’ manor and farm once he was of age. However, he continued to throw himself into his passions rather than the practical. But it seemed as though things could not continue of this path. Still being but one person, Erin never really was prepared for the dangers of the forest, what could happen with feral dogs, how close he could come to being killed.
After being maimed one fine afternoon, resulting in the scar across his face, Erin’s parents had had enough. He was to stay strictly at home for his tutoring and for structure. Having almost lost his life while doing something as frivolous as playing in the woods was the last line that had to be crossed. Yet Erin still refused. Being nearly fifteen and largely confined to a manor, no matter how big was not how Erin would have enjoyed some of his formative years, yet there he was. He still faithfully practiced archery on safer ranges, with one idea in mind— the military.
As soon as he was able Erin jumped into the military to gain real world experience, get away, and avoid having to live his life as a farmer. Though, the years wouldn’t be so easy on him. For all the maturing he thought he would be doing, Erin wasn’t able to shake the feeling he had done his family truly wrong. He avoided doing the things that allowed him to live the life he had, the good life. With these things weighing heavily on him by the time he finished his first few years in Miras’s service, Erin sought to join the royal guard in order to do his best to gain his family nobility among their riches, a way to pay back the parents he has disrespected for so long.
Currently, and with the events of the war taking their toll on everyone, Erin has taken to making sure he takes his duties a bit more responsibly. Though he is still prone to not taking things as seriously as one should, he has taken precautions to give himself in service to the royal family. The ongoing war efforts are a large part of the jump his training has taken to attain the rank of "Ranger."
