"Hey, look, a spider," I change the topic. A tiny spider hangs down from the edge of the car window.
"Don't kill it!" they yell in unison.
"Don't worry," I assure them, and, for the first time in my life, I take a spider in my hand.
"Aren't you afraid of spiders?" my aunt asks. "I've thought..."
"I've thought the same," I answer. "But then... so many other scary things happened..."
"That the spiders are almost like friends now," my cousin finishes.
Another song starts playing on the radio, ona that I would never expect here: Let It Be. A weird version, horrible sound quality, but... but still...
The spider runs across my fingers, from one hand to the other and back. I'd throw it out of the car window, but we're still on the highway. I don't even remember what happenned to it at last.

Don't mind me, I was just curious how something I wrote way earlier (specifically this is from November 2018) would sound in English. Still unsure whether I should try to draw, rewrite, translate and otherwise recycle my old stories - I used to write quite a lot - or to finally leave the past behind (to "let it be", haha) and move on to new things. Whatever. Here's a new thing. And despite the obvious asymmetry and not even being based on any particular species, it's apparently still realistic enough to scare the heck out of my family.
