Description
This map was published in 1570 by Urban von Staffelde, Duke of Brunswick and Lüneburg. Apart from being a renowned cartographer and an important noble in the peerage of the newly established Kingdom of Brandenburg, Urban was also known as a fiercely zealous Protestant, who advocated a harsh treatment of the kingdom's many Catholic subjects. He later fought the Catholic Bishop Maximilian during the Lüneburger Uprising, and also published a very objective book on why Catholics were bad and shifty, and on the great deeds done by himself throughout his life.
