Very cool idea. I actually had something similar to this in mind that I was planning to draw soon. I was going to title it "As Above..." I'm really into dualities and opposing themes.Β

Very true! Seems we have a pretty common style... Iβve also dabbled with mandalas, as well as the dual themes. Never really thought to put them together, though.
I had only a vague idea for my drawing, above and below were as far as Iβd gone. Now that Iβve seen your drawing, though, Iβm going to have to dig deep for a different idea, so I donβt make something too similar.Β

Hmm what an odd piece but very illustrative. So tell me, why destructive. What IS the story? Who is the man? Is he trying to destroy himself to reach some sort of ascension or you just felt like drawing this?

Not easy questions to answer. A story in the usual sense? No. A concept? Yes.
The basic idea was to illustrate a double nature of immanence and transcendence.
As to the destructive part, I am not even certain myself. Only when this guy (jokingly) said that did I realise that yes, there is a destructive element here. As you have probably noticed, some of my more recent drawings do contain the destruction-ascension concept. But here I think the destruction is more passive, inherent in a way.
