Description Someone asked me a while ago (too long actually ><) for a tutorial on how I colour/shade on SAI. I think it was just shading, but I figured I'd go over some other things anyway. The shading bit is in the next bit which will be up.... soon : D

But yeah! This is for colouring using the fill bucket on Paint Tool SAI. Hope this helps you guys out : ) And look out for Part 2!

Neko-san1234 In reply to ZitahsAwesome [2016-04-19 23:18:21 +0000 UTC]

You have to color it grey by making a new layer under it and using either the bucket or pen tool to make it grey. Then you name that layer "base" and lock it. ^_^ Hope this helped

Are there any tips to be able to fill an area hidden by the lineart layer?

I checked my line art several times for gaps and I'm sure that they all connect, but the magic wand still selects everything! I'm really not sure what I missed. Help?

what did you do?!?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AwesomeABP In reply to puggal0504 [2015-09-07 15:54:20 +0000 UTC]

When you use the wand you HAVE to be on the layer that you did your line art, not the colour layer.

Could you please tell me how you figured it out? ;-; I can't get it to work.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AwesomeABP In reply to NeeNeePapao-o [2015-09-07 15:56:11 +0000 UTC]

Are you using the wand on the colour layer? You need to use it on the line art layer for it to work. Once that's done you use invert if you selected the area around the character and then you click the selection source box. Once you've done that THEN you can switch to the colour layer

Hmm... did you make sure you were on the right layer? Or that all the lines are connected all the way?
