In June 2014, as conflict escalated in Lugansk and troops came under attack, this truck was used to transport equipment.
In early July 2014, the truck was sent to the Mykolaiv Locomotive Repair Plant to have armor protection installed and a shooter's position set up in the cabin.
From August 2014 onward, it served the border patrol at key locations near the village of Yuhanivka in the Luhansk region.
The truck's "steel armor" played a vital role in protecting soldiers' lives. The UAZ helped to secure transportation of personnel to duty locations, providing cover for border guards during patrols, force redeployments, supply missions, and the evacuation of the wounded. It operated as a mobile firing position in defensive operations.
Due to extensive shelling by Russian occupation forces, the truck suffered significant damage. After repairs, it returned to the battlefield, spending a year in the Anti-Terrorist Operation Zone as the sole armored unit in the detachment.
When the truck reached its operational limits, the border guards decided to donate the "ARMORED FROG" to the museum.
