First impressions of Abraxas don’t reveal anything to tell. He doesn’t carry himself well, with his head always semi bowed. He frankly looks like he’s on the verge of constant tears and doesn’t speak unless spoken to. He keeps to himself and isn’t one to engage first in conversation.
Abraxas is introspective and poetic, he takes things slowly so he can observe the beauty of life. In some cases, he’s painfully naive but he always works with a big heart. He pours himself into every activity he takes on with pride and passion. He enjoys working with his hands and doesn’t mind getting them dirty. Abraxas is empathetic above all and doesn’t like seeing other people or animals in danger no matter what their ideology is.
Although he doesn’t look it, Abraxas is hard-headed and stubborn in the worst way. He isn’t one to fight someone on a topic, he’s meek in that he’ll simply stop replying but he won’t stop believing. Talking him out of action is hard because he’ll just ignore you and do it anyway, and it's a struggle to convince him. Abraxas isn’t one for arguing but he isn’t one for changing his mind either. He isn’t a follower but he isn’t a leader either, he’ll simply do his own thing no matter how selfless or selfish it seems. Trying to get him to do a task is like herding cats.
Dusty Village, Ruby
Abraxas was born to a rather quaint family living in Dusty. They were quiet but they were respected, a trope of doctors and nurses who were determined to help their neighbors. Abraxas himself was always sickly, he was kept in a sterilized room for a good deal of his childhood, his parents often coming in and gifting him with tremendous amounts of antibiotics and medicine.
He was pretty miserable and didn’t have many friends. Because of this he grew up to be rather awkward around others and turned to keep to himself instead of trying. When he was older and healthier he went outside, and although he was enrolled in school (which his majors being picked by his parents, who assumed he would be a doctor) he always found time to sneak out to observe the wildlife.
They didn’t own pets, and animals amazed him. He’d stay by farms and watch livestock, taking any opportunity to be near ferals. His parents took notice and tried to curb his habits, which came to a head when they shipped him off to a boarding school so he could focus on his studies.
And it worked!!
A little.
Although now an adult, and a doctor who knew about bones and other body parts, he didn’t feel… complete. He was depressed and changed jobs on a whim. He went from being a surgeon to an embalmer, and then from an embalmer to a funeral director, all while his parents looked on uncomfortably. His second-to-last change in direction was when he purchased a rapidash and a cart on a whim and traveled through Obsidian helping people in remote communities.
It was through this line of work where he found a calling to help animals in particular. He’d often see injured ferals on his travels and he’d always stop and try the best he could. For a while, he was happy.
And then the disaster struck. He didn’t get to say goodbye to his rapidash before it kicked him in the face and ran off into the forests. He awoke in a hospital and foolishly went out searching for it when he was well enough. He got kicked in the head again and woke up where he left off. Abaraxas wasn’t one to give up on his friend, but going back out there would be suicide.
His need to help animals resonated with him, and he joined the Obsidian guild shortly after it opened. He didn’t interact much with the people there and kept to the sidelines. He was back to being a nurse, and he didn’t exactly enjoy it. He had heard about Everstone but they were never on his radar until the guild games.
He realized that his efforts might be put to better use in Everstone; the menial life of a nurse wasn’t holding his attention and he wanted to do more research. He requested a transfer and set off to everstone.
