"Portrait of Lily," my vision of Lily right before she died. She is holding a lily, not only her namesake, but the pagan and religious symbol of birth, rebirth, and death. I painted her so that she looks wiser than her years, as a young member of the Order of the Phoenix, and taking part in a war as a young mother, perhaps thinking that she was prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice for her son.

A print of this painting sold at Portus 2008 for $250, with 100% of proceeds benefiting HPEF and charity. Later, I donated another framed print of this painting with 50% of proceeds benefiting Doctors Without Borders. All 11x14" prints from a limited edition run of only 5 are sold out. However, a very limited edition of 8x10" prints ($15) are still available. Please email (foxestacado@gmail.com) to inquire.

Please note, print comes with a 1/4th inch white border.

I like it. It has a Pre-Raphaelite look to it in some ways. I like the use of symbolism in the lily. My compliments on your donating to good causes through your artwork.

This is probably the only portraial of Lily that I actually like. Alot. I never pictured her as sugary superduper pretty, I pictured her more like this.

Very good job!

Stunning portrait. The color choices are really effective, and I like unexpected oranges and pinks on the eyelids. Lovely Pre - Raphaelite inference

Thank you so much! I did play a bit with her make-up. I figured she wore very understated make-up, if at all, and I wanted her natural beauty to show through. At the same time, I wanted a look of maturity and a bit of resignation...and that seemed to be the best I could do.

Thanks! I did look to the Pre-Raphaelites and neo-Classicalists for inspiration.

Thanks! I did look to the pre-Raphaelites and the neo-Classicalists to achieve the coloring and look. I wasn't too satisfied with the painting itself, but oh well

Thank you! Lily Evans nee Potter is one of my favorite characters in the book. Even though she is a bit of a Mary Sue, I thought that she was absolutely essential to who Harry becomes, and how Harry derived his strength to defeat Voldemort. I wanted to portray Lily with that grace and wisdom, and self sacrificial devotion that she passed on to Harry.
