you guys wanted more nextgen so here we gooo~! startin off with a canon character!

flurry heart! we all know her. she's descendant from none other than princess amore, she's a direct heir to the crystal empire throne and connected to the crystal heart. all of equestria immediately fell in love with her. but it didn't come cheap.

the biggest hardships happened when she was a baby. her connection to the heart is incredibly strong, so her mood swings tampered with the heart's overall power more than once. it got more stabilized as she grew up, though.
flurry has had a lot of identity issues. given that the crystal ponies look up to her more than they do to her parents, she wound up being an anxious mess. she still gets her duties done, but at the end of the day, she doesn't see a leader in the mirror. she just sees an ordinary pony. it's been terribly difficult for her to come to terms with.. well, herself and the role she plays in the world. it lead her to becoming a part of the crystal royal guard, acting as the empire's first defense, just so that she feels more "normal" and not all "princess-y" all the time. she's still destined to be a ruler once her parents step down from their positions.
in the end, flurry is a very kind-hearted little pony, who spreads hope and light everywhere she goes and everytime she smiles. she doesn't quite have the grasp on love as her mother does, although she does get a strong feeling from ponies sometimes, indicating that perhaps they should become each other's special someponies.
she can also be a bit mischievious, reveling in good fun.

given that flurry has had problems with huge outbursts of magic when she was a baby (as seen in the show), twilight would spent most of her own motherhood in the crystal empire since her daughter starberry had the same issue. being born to two alicorns as a unicorn & being born an alicorn made the two girls equal in raw magic power. since my nextgen happens after the season 9 finale, "the ending of the end", starberry is a bit younger than flurry. despite all this, they see each other as sisters, since they were raised together for the most part.
flurry calls twilight auntie, but considering that starberry comes from a family where she has three biological moms, she started calling cadence mom too. cadence doesn't mind, in fact she loves her "extra daughter" to bits.
i included sketchy little snippets depicting star's & flurry's relationship:

1. just kid sibling stuff. flurry broke into the pantry and blamed it on starberry, who pouted all evening until flurry gave her her share. the two would often get into trouble, running around and annoying the castle staff. you'd then find them completely passed out on each other, snoozing away.

2. angst time!
flurry's powers stabilized over time, but starberry's didn't. she has the magic of two powerful alicorns flowing through her veins, which makes her own magic very volatile and unpredictable. that is why she always wears something like a little horn accessory. it is supposed to help her magic tone down a bit. it usually works just fine, but for one reason or another, starberry took it off one day and almost immediately started wreaking havoc, unintentionally. flurry tried to calm her down, but before she knew it, a stray piece of magical lightning hit her eye. alicorns are meant to endure the worst of the worst, so this really was nothing but a scratch.
although starberry felt incredibly guilty and didn't speak to her sister for weeks.

3. it's coronation day in the crystal empire. neither shining armor nor princess cadence are stepping down, they are still the emperor and empress respectively. but princess flurry heart has turned eighteen, so to celebrate this memorable occassion, a party akin to the crystal fair is being held.
at this point, star and flurry still hadn't made amends-- well, flurry tried. she tried and tried to talk to star, even wrote her letters when her little sister went to ponyville with her mother, but to no avail. the clock is ticking and flurry is called on. with all the self-doubt she feels and the extra weight of what had happened with her favourite sister, she holds in tears and makes her way to the balcony where her parents and the entire nation is awaintg her. when all of a sudden-- "flurry, wait!"
flurry turns around only to spot starberry awkwardly standing in the corner. "i know, bad timing, but i just wanted to apologize one more time. you're a very important pony in the empire and it cannot afford to lose you, so if you don't wanna hang out with me ever again, i completely unders-- huh?"
before starberry could continue, she found herself in the young princess' embrace. "you stupid stupid dummy, don't you get it!? i never want you to leave! you're my sister for pony's sake! and i've forgiven you long time ago." after a minute of a very tight embrace, the two separated, but kept close enough to rest their horns against one another, an ultimately intimate gesture between unicorns. "hey, i know you've been very stressed and that i haven't really... been of much help with all that, but flurry. look at me, dummy. you'll do great, okay?" they exchanged smiles, flurry straightened out, fixed her mane and coronation jewels and turned around to make way towards the balcony. before she stepped into the light, she turned around to starberry one last time, "crystal ice cream later?" the smaller pony chuckled. "until we feel sick," she promised.
